COBLESKILL, N.Y. - The recent hot bats continued for the Keystone College baseball program, as the Giants enjoyed an 18-3 non-conference road win at SUNY Cobleskill on Tuesday afternoon.
With the victory, the Giants improve to 16-14 overall and will remain on the road tomorrow, heading to Misericordia University (23-13) at 3:30 p.m. Keystone defeated the Cougars 11-4 on Monday.
The Fighting Tigers fall to 19-13 and head to Union College on Wednesday. Cobleskill will head to Keystone on Sunday, May 1 for a 12 p.m. start. Cobleskill is coached by Lance Ratchford '11 and Austin Straub '12.
In the last four contests (4-0), Keystone has outscored its opponents 84-12, as the team is hitting .441 with 18 homers and 21 doubles. Chris Hadsall (Lehman, Pa./Lake Lehman) has been on an absolute tear, as the junior third baseman is hitting .867 (13-for-15) with four home runs, 11 RBI, nine runs, four doubles, 29 total bases, and an on-base percentage of .889, slugging 1.933.
On Tuesday, Hadsall continued his hot streak, going 4-for-4 with four RBI and two runs, including a three-run blast in the third.
The Giants plated 11 runs in that third inning, as Vince Montone (Oak Ridge, N.J./Jefferson Township) launched a solo homer to extend the lead to 5-0. Pedro Abreu (Bronx, N.Y./Santa Teresa) ripped a run-scoring double followed by a two-run single by Jason Thomas (Miami, Fla./Barbara Goleman). RJ Gouldsbury (Throop, Pa./Mid Valley) collected an RBI single and Bobby Pokorney (Margate, Fla./J.P. Taravella) tallied an RBI groundout as Keystone extended its advantage to 15-0.
In the top of the sixth, Luis Francisco (Laceyville, Pa./Stroudsburg) blasted a two-run shot and Evan Roberts (Wharton, N.J./Morris Knolls) followed with a solo shot of his own in the seventh. Keystone outhit the Tigers 17-3 on the day. JD Barrett (Moosic, Pa./Dallas) got the scoring going with a leadoff homer in the first and finished the day 2-for-2 with two runs and two walks.
Patrick Adamski (Kingston, Pa./Wyoming Valley West) enjoyed all the run support as the senior righty earned his second win of the year, going five innings, allowing just one hit and one run, with five strikeouts, five flyouts, and six groundouts. Ross Zanghi (Scranton, Pa./Scranton) and Kevin Murphy (Montgomery, N.Y./Valley Central) appeared in relief, combining for six strikeouts.
