FERRUM, Va. – Freshman Aaron Lautenschlager (Purcellville, Va./Loudoun Valley) had five hits and six RBI as the 26th-ranked Randolph-Macon baseball team split an ODAC doubleheader at Ferrum on Saturday afternoon.

How It Happened – Game 1:
- After a scoreless first, the Yellow Jackets took control in the second. Senior Spencer Pietruszynski (Williamsburg, Va./Jamestown) had a leadoff single and scored on a triple by junior Carter Johnson (Southampton, Va./Southampton). A base hit by Lautenschlager plated Johnson to make it 2-0. After a walk to junior Logan Smith (Midlothian, Va./Midlothian), sophomore Grayson Bush (Charlottesville, Va./Monticello) singled to drive in Lautenschlager to up the lead to 3-0. Following a sacrifice bunt by sophomore Matt Myers (Hampstead, Md./Manchester Valley), a groundout by junior Ethan Iannuzzi (Chesterfield, Va./Cosby) knocked in Smith and a triple by sophomore Hunter Cole (Norfolk, Va./Granby) brought home Bush as R-MC built a 5-0 lead.
- In the third, Pietruszynski had a leadoff double and scored when Lautenschlager reached on an error to make it 6-0.
- R-MC put up another crooked number in the fourth. Iannuzzi had a leadoff double and scored on a base hit by sophomore Myles Webb (Norfolk, Va./Granby) as the margin grew to 7-0. Following a single by Pietruszynski, both runners scored on a double by Lautenschlager to make it 9-0.
- The Panthers put up two in the fourth and three in the fifth to make the score 9-5.
- The Yellow Jackets added an insurance run in the eighth as Myers reached on an error and scored on a single by Cole to make the final 10-5.

- Lautenschlager had two hits and four RBI.
- Pietruszynski had three hits and three runs. Cole had two triples, three hits and two RBI.
- Junior Hayden Snelsire (Berlin, Md./Stephen Decatur) was the starter and winner, going 5.0 innings with eight hits, five runs, two walks and seven strikeouts to raise his record to 6-2.
- Freshman Sam Slevin (Virginia Beach, Va./Frank Cox) tossed three scoreless innings with three hits and two walks.
- Senior Jacob Smither (Mechanicsville, Va./Atlee) fanned the three batters he faced in the ninth.
How It Happened – Game 2:
- FC scored one in the second before R-MC answered in the fourth. Pietruszynski had a one-out walk and went to second when Johnson was hit by a pitch. Both runners moved up on a passed ball and both scored on a double by Lautenschlager, who came home on an error to give the Yellow Jackets a 3-1 lead.
- The Panthers tied it with two in the fifth before R-MC reclaimed the lead in the top of the ninth. Lautenschlager had a leadoff single and scored on a double by freshman Lincoln Lubsen (Williamsburg, Va./Walsingham Academy) to give the Yellow Jackets a 4-3 edge. FC scored twice in the bottom of the ninth to earn the doubleheader split.

- Lautenschlager had three hits, two runs and two RBI.
- Sophomore Cole Stamm (Irvington, Va./Middlesex) tossed four scoreless innings in relief with one hit, no walks and seven strikeouts.

- R-MC will be the No. 3 seed in the ODAC Tournament. The Yellow Jackets will learn their quarterfinal opponent on Saturday evening.
