MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Freshman Greer Farr (Southern Shores, NC) had two hits and one RBI, but Hampden-Sydney College dropped a 13-8 non-conference baseball decision to Millsaps (MS) College on Friday at the Huntingdon Spring Break Tournament in Montgomery, Alabama. Senior Justin Woodall (Mechanicsville) took the pitching setback for the Tigers (6-2) against the Majors (6-6).

H-SC scored eight runs on nine hits with six errors … scoring one run in the fourth inning and seven runs in the ninth. MC scored 13 runs on 11 hits with four errors … scoring eight runs in the second inning, two runs in the fourth, one run in the seventh and two runs in the eighth.

In the fourth, Christian Chambers (Midlothian) reached on a fielder's choice and later scored on an RBI single by junior Trent Jones (Virginia Beach) (1-2, RBI).

In the ninth, freshman Jack Wilson (Petersburg) (1-2, RBI) singled and crossed the plate on an RBI single by junior Cameron Shields (Scottsville) (1-2, RBI) … Farr (2-2, RBI) singled and scored on an RBI single by sophomore Mark Warren (Norfolk) (1-2, RBI) … freshman Trevor Mason (Chesapeake) walked and scored when classmate Chase Sanford (Mechanicsville) (RBI) drew a bases-loaded RBI walk … Shields crossed the plate when freshman Mason Jablonski (Franklin, TN) (1-1, RBI) also walked with the bases-loaded … Warren scored when Wilson reached on an error … Sanford scored on an RBI infield single by Farr … and Jablonski crossed the plate courtesy of a wild pitch.

Woodall (1-1) started on the mound for the Tigers and pitched the first 1.0-plus inning, allowing three hits and six runs, all earned, with one strikeout and one walk. Freshman Kyle Woodall (Mechanicsville) tossed 3.0 innings, allowing one hit and two runs, both earned, with four strikeouts and one walk. Freshman Michael Hagin (Richmond) pitched the final 1.0 scoreless inning, yielding no hits with one strikeout and no walks. The Garnet & Grey used six pitchers in the contest.

H-SC is scheduled to continue its competition in the tournament with a non-conference game against host Huntingdon College on Saturday, March 4, at 1:30 p.m. in Alabama.
