MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Sophomore Grayson Harris (Moseley) had three hits, but Hampden-Sydney College dropped a 12-2 non-conference baseball decision on the road at Huntingdon (AL) College on Saturday at the Huntingdon Spring Break Tournament in Montgomery, Alabama. Freshman Jacob Miller-Bopp (Barhamsville) took the pitching setback for the Tigers (6-3) against the Hawks (6-2) in the game stopped in the seventh inning with host HC ahead by 10 runs.

H-SC scored two runs on five hits with two errors in the seven-inning contest … scoring one run in the second inning and one run in the fifth. HC scored 12 runs on 13 hits with no errors … scoring one run each in the first, second and third innings, four runs in both the fourth and sixth, and one run in the seventh.

In the second, freshman Mason Jablonski (Franklin, TN) (1-3) doubled to left field with one out, and crossed the plate on an RBI single to center field by junior Lucas Burnette (Hurt) (1-2, RBI).

In the fifth, Harris (3-4) singled to left field, stole second base and advanced to third on a passed ball … scoring when senior team captain Ryan Boyce (Suffolk) (RBI) provided a ground ball RBI.

Miller-Bopp (1-1) started on the mound for the Tigers and pitched the first 3.0 innings, allowing four hits and three runs, all earned, with two strikeouts and two walks. The Garnet & Grey used six pitchers on the day, including senior Russell Bowles (Moseley), who retired the only batter he faced.

H-SC is scheduled to continue and complete its competition in the tournament with a non-conference game against Middlebury (VT) College on Sunday, March 5, at 12 p.m. in Alabama.
