DAVENPORT, FL – Tyler Cannon went 4-for-4 and Jason O'Neill struck out eight as the 11th-ranked Rowan baseball team rolled to an 11-1 win over Rogers Williams at the RussMatt Invitational, in a game shortened to seven innings because of the 10-run margin. Rowan improves to 7-3 with its second straight win.

O'Neill picked up his second victory of the year as he allowed just one run and posted a career-high eight strikeouts while going all seven innings.

Cannon had a double and his first home run of the year, while scoring two runs to lead the offense. Dylan Maria was 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and two RBI, with Phil Sedalis going 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBI. Brian Gallante was 2-for-3 with an RBI and Murphy also drove in one and scored two.

The Profs scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh, as Gallante came home as Murphy was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, and Jason Morgan scored the decisive run on a Roger Williams error off a fielder's choice by Pat Defeciani.

The Profs jumped on the board right away, picking up two runs in the first inning when Cannon started the game with a single and came home on a double by Maria. Defeciani also singled and eventually scored on a ground out by Anthony Schooley.

Rowan added another in the second as Sedalis led off with a single and advanced on a sacrifice bunt and ground out, and then scored on a failed pickoff attempt.

The Profs' big inning came in the fifth, as Cannon led off with a solo shot over the centerfield fence. Maria singled to score Murphy and then Sedalis tripled to bring home Chris Curcio and Schooley. Gallante followed with a singled that allowed Sedalis to score and give the Profs an 8-1 lead.

They added another in the sixth on a single from Curcio that scored Murphy and reached the 10-run rule in the bottom of the seventh.

Rowan will play two more games in Florida – on Friday against Southern Maine at 5:30 p.m. and on Saturday versus Ithaca at 9:30 a.m.
