AUBURNDALE, Fla. — The Keuka College Baseball team lost on Saturday afternoon in Florida to Westminster College by the score of 11-6.
RJ Murphy (Syracuse, N.Y. / West Genesee) continues to pace the Keuka College (1-2, 0-0 Empire 8) offense with four hits in the game. Matt Vacarro (Fayetteville, N.Y. / Fayetteville-Manlius), Josh Tryon (Elmira, N.Y. / Thomas A. Edison), and Connor Springer (Irondequoit, N.Y. / Irondequoit) each added two-hit games for the Wolves.
Westminster College 11 vs. Keuka College 6
The Titans jumped out to a quick lead in the top of the first as they converted five hits into three runs. The damage could have been more, but Matt Rugolo (Farmingdale, N.Y. / Farmingdale) fielded a ball in left and threw out a Westminster runner at the plate to end the inning.
Keuka College took advantage of a leadoff walk in the bottom of the second to get one run back. Shane Helmstadt (Schoharie, N.Y. / Schoharie) worked a walk and advanced on a wild pitch. Then in his first collegiate at-bat, Connor Springer roped a double for his first hit, scoring Helmstadt to make it 3-1.
Westminster regained their three-run advantage in the top third, but the Wolves scored that run right back. Matt Vaccaro led off with an infield single to second and promptly stole second. Josh Tryon plated Vaccaro with a single to make it 4-2. Later in the inning, Brady Booher (Rochester, N.Y. / Eastridge) delivered a two-run home run to tie the game at 4-4.
The back-and-forth continue as Westminster got a two-run home run of their own in the fourth to regain the lead. The Titans would add five runs in the top of the seventh. Keuka College got two back in the bottom of the inning but that would close the scoring on the afternoon. Westminster would continue onto the 11-6 victory over Keuka College.

- Saturday was the first time Keuka College faced Westminster College (Pa.) in baseball. Keuka previously faced Westminster College (Mo.) in 2015

- RJ Murphy set a new career-high with four hits in the game. He finished with a double, three singles, and two runs scored
- Booher connected for the second home run of his career
- Throwing an inning of relief, Ethan Tillotson (Pavilion, N.Y. / Pavilion) set a new personal best with three strikeouts
- Also excelling out of the bullpen was Quinn Toomey (Berne, N.Y. / Berne-Knox-Westerlo). The sophomore struck out a career-high four in two scoreless innings of work
Up Next for Keuka College: The Wolves have Sunday off in Florida before returning to action on Monday. The Wolves will face Washington and Jefferson College in a doubleheader on March 20. First pitch from Florida is set for 2 p.m.
