ABILENE, TEXAS – Senior catcher Mark Navarro (San Antonio, Texas) and junior shortstop Blake Beach (Atascocita, Texas) each rapped two-run singles in a five-run sixth-inning rally, sending McMurry University to a non-conference win Tuesday, March 21.

The five-run attack busted up a 4-4 tie and sent head coach Josh Lee's squad past D3Baseball.com's No. 19-ranked Trinity University 9-5 in front of a large crowd enjoying warm late March weather at Walt Driggers Field. Navarro finished with three RBI and a run scored, while Beach added a run scored to his offensive line. The sophomore outfielder combination of Casey Turner (Kingwood, Texas) and Koy Carpenter (La Vernia, Texas) added two hits each, and Turner also drive in two.

Their efforts aided another strong bullpen performance from the Maroon and White. Freshman Noah Hamel (Schertz, Texas), sophomore Grayson Winter (Buda, Texas), sophomore Dalton Enberg (Llano, Texas), and freshman Hunter Poe (Midland, Texas) shut down the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference powers to the tune of four hits and no earned runs over the final seven innings.

McMurry (8-11) takes to the road for American Southwest Conference action Saturday and Sunday, March 25 and 26. The War Hawks take on the University of the Ozarks in Clarksville, Arkansas, with 12 p.m. starts both days.
