HOW IT HAPPENED:

- The Pride took an early 3-0 lead in the second behind RBI extra-base hits from Andrew McCarty and Max Giacco. MIT answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning as junior Tyler Godfrey (Rowley, Mass.) singled with two outs and came home on a mammoth two-run home run to center by junior Kennan Gumbs (New York, N.Y.).

- The Engineers took the lead for good in the bottom of the third as an RBI single up the middle from senior Kyle Sonandres (Torrance, Calif.) tied the game, followed by a two-RBI double to right center by senior Graham Cartwright (La Jolla, Calif.) to go ahead at 5-3.

- Springfield pulled within 5-4 on an unearned run in the top of the fourth before a third RBI from Cartwright scored junior Teddy Schoenfeld (Boulder, Colo.) to make it a 6-4 game. The MIT scoring run continued in the bottom of the sixth with a four-run frame that extended the lead to 10-4 as a bases-clearing double down the right field line by senior Jake Sonandres (Torrance, Calif.) keyed the offensive outburst.

- The Engineers added three more in the bottom of the seventh, along with a single run by Springfield. Sophomore Ethan Siegel (Austin, Texas) came in for the ninth inning and recorded a pair of strikeouts to close out the 13-5 final in favor of MIT.
