ASHLAND, Va. – Sophomore Chaz Harvey (Charlottesville, Va./Miller School) homered and knocked in three, while four relievers combined to toss 4.2 hitless innings, as the 12th-ranked Randolph-Macon baseball team defeated No. 8 Lynchburg in ODAC action on Wednesday afternoon.

How It Happened
- Senior Cam Furman (Midlothian, Va./Midlothian) held the Hornets scoreless over the first three innings before the Yellow Jackets got on the board in the bottom of the third. Harvey drew a leadoff walk and went to second on a base hit by senior Carter Johnson (Southampton, Va./Southampton). Junior Greyson Bush (Charlottesville, Va./Monticello) laid down a sacrifice bunt and was safe at first on an errant throw, loading the bases. A sacrifice fly by junior Matt Myers (Hampstead, Md./Manchester Valley) brought home Harvey, and another sacrifice fly by senior Ethan Iannuzzi (Chesterfield, Va./Cosby) plated Johnson to make it 2-0. Freshman Carter Schmitt (Glen Allen, Va./St. Christopher's) singled to left to drive in Bush to up the lead to 3-0.
- Lynchburg would score two in the fifth. Senior Brennan Tyznar (Bon Air, Va./Trinity) retired the final two hitters in the fifth and would pick up his first win of the season.
- Sophomore Sam Slevin (Virginia Beach, Va./Frank Cox) retired the Hornets in order in the top of the sixth before RMC added an insurance run in the bottom of the frame. Senior Hunter Cole (Norfolk, Va./Granby) had a leadoff single, went to second on a passed ball and scored on a base hit by Harvey to extend the lead to 4-2.
- Sophomore Bere Bauers (Devon, Pa./Devon Prep) tossed two hitless innings over the seventh and eighth with two strikeouts. Cole had a leadoff single in the bottom of the eighth and Harvey smacked a homer to right center, his fourth dinger of the season, to make it 6-2.
- Junior Cole Stamm (Irvington, Va./Middlesex) retired the Hornets in order in the ninth with a pair of strikeouts to preserve the victory.
