Providence, RI --- An infield single in the bottom of the ninth gave Rhode Island College a 4-3 walk-off win over the WPI baseball team in non-conference action on Thursday. The Anchormen improve to 13-10 with the win, while the Engineers dip to 11-10.

Knotted at 3-3 heading into the bottom of the ninth, Cameron Santerre (Bristol, RI) started RIC off with a double to center before a Daniel Trzepacz (Mount Vernon, NH) fly out advanced Santerre to third. Lucas McElroy (Westport, MA) then got an infield single to send home the winning run.

McElroy finished the game 3-for-4 with a walk and an RBI to lead the Anchormen at the plate, while Sean Helfrich (Saunderstown, RI), Daniel Cascio (East Hampton, CT), and CJ Almagno (North Providence, RI) also drove in runs. Colin Gauthier (Pawtucket, RI) got the win in relief, throwing three innings and allowing just one hit with three strikeouts.

For WPI, Jeffrey Brennan (Amsterdam, NY) put together another three-hit game, while Jacob Hand (Niskayuna, NY) had two hits and drove in two runs. Both had doubles in the loss, with Jonathan Lattimer (Windsor, CT) adding the third RBI of the game.

The Engineers struck first with three runs in the top of the second inning, capitalizing on four hits and an RIC error. Jake DelMonte (Southington, CT) and Danny Johnson (Mendon, MA) singled before a Lattimer sac fly made it 1-0. With two outs, Liam Keblin (Newton, MA) singled to put two on and Hand doubled to left to make it 3-0 before a ground out ended the frame.

Rhode Island College slowly chipped away, scoring solo runs in the bottom of the second, fourth, and sixth innings to finally tie the game at 3-3. In the second, it was a Halfrich double down the left field line that drove in Cal Parrillo (Greenville, RI), while in the third, Almagno singled to drive in Joey Coro (North Providence, RI). The game-tying run in the bottom of the sixth came on a Cascio single that plated Cole Podedworny (Wakefield, RI) who was hit by a pitch earlier in the frame.

WPI was held off the board after the second inning and put together just three hits the rest of the game, setting up the walk-off win for the Anchormen.

Both teams jump back into conference play on Saturday at noon with WPI playing two at NEWMAC-rival Babson, while RIC heads to Castleton for an LEC doubleheader.
