- The Lead: Trailing by a 4-3 margin after four innings, the MIT baseball team tied the game in the sixth and used a three-run seventh to rally past Springfield College for the 7-5 victory on Tuesday afternoon. The win gives MIT a sweep of the two-game, regular-season series with the Pride.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Junior Teddy Schoenfeld (Boulder, Colo.) led the game off with a triple to center and scored the first run of the contest on an RBI groundout from senior Kyle Sonandres (Torrance, Calif.). The Engineers put up a pair of two-out runs as first-year Zev Moore (Jerusalem, Israel) and junior Tyler Godfrey (Rowley, Mass.) both picked up RBI singles.

- Springfield answered with single runs in each of the first four innings, including a two-out RBI double to right field by Joe Traversa in the second that scored Noah Diamond. Cole Zalegowski scored the go-ahead run for Springfield in the fourth and the score remained at 4-3 in favor of the Pride until MIT came up to bat in the sixth.

- The Engineers tied the game on a two-out rally at 4-4 as sophomore Reed Tubbs (Pflugerville, Texas) reached on an infield single that scored Godfrey. MIT's big inning came in the seventh as the visitors took advantage of two hit batters, one wild pitch and a Springfield error to push across three unearned runs for the 7-4 advantage.

- Springfield used doubles by Michael Lepere and Andrew McCarty in the bottom of the eighth to scratch out another run and cut the lead down to two at 7-5. Senior Ben Burke (Chelmsford, Mass.) worked out of that situation in the eighth to preserve the two-run advantage, followed by sophomore Ethan Siegel (Austin, Texas) with a perfect ninth to pick up the save.
