Prial Gives the Scarlet Raiders a Walk-Off Win On Senior Day Over NJCU, 3-2

NEWARK, NJ | Gilroy Prial sent the Gothic Knights home packing with a 2 RBI walkoff single to take down NJCU in a crucial New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game, 3-2. The Scarlet Raiders picked up the win on Senior Day where Armando AlvarezEthan CalcanoMatthew Rypkema and Marcus James were honored. The win boosted the Scarlet Raiders to 21-14-1, 5-10-1 while NJCU dropped to 12-25, 2-14.

The Scarlet Raiders were held to four hits, but tallied three runs on those four hits. Prial, Michael WeinbelArmando Alvarez and Jesse Evensen all tallied a hit with Prial tallying two RBIs. Marcus James (4-3) earned a complete game win where he threw 140 pitches with three strikeouts. 

NJCU got on the board early behind a Josh Hernandez RBI double to left field before they doubled up on their lead in the top of the 7th. With two outs in the bottom of the 9th, the Scarlet Raiders loaded the bases with two outs before Ricky Gonzalez scored on a wild pitch to bring Rutgers-Newark within one. 

With runners on 2nd and 3rd, Prial fell behind in the count 1-2 before hitting a 2 RBI single up the middle to score both Calvin Claiborne and Peter Cortez for the walk off win.
