Keystone Advances to CSAC Championship With 14-7 Win over Wilson

LA PLUME, Pa.- The Keystone College baseball team advances to the CSAC Championship as they defeated Wilson College 14-7 Friday afternoon in the team's second game of the CSAC Tournament. Keystone moves to 29-12 while Wilson drops to 33-9.

Bobby Pokorney (Margate, Fla./J.P. Taravella) went 3-for-4 with one RBI to lead the Keystone bats. A single in the seventh inning gave Pokorney his 100th career hit. Jason Thomas (Miami, Fla./Barbara Goleman)Robert Estrada (Jersey City, N.J./Ferris)Anthony Raimo (Albany, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy), and Chris Hadsall (Lehman, Pa./Lake Lehman) all picked up two hits with one RBI. Griffin Yastremski (Bath, N.Y./Haverling) went 2-for-5 with two RBI.

Brayan Villar (West Orange, N.J./Belleville) got the start and win as he went five innings with no walks and seven strikeouts. Dominic Verrastro (Scott Township, Pa./Lakeland) pitched three innings in relief and struck out six in his outing. Logan Lixie (Tamarac, Fla./J.P. Taravella) appeared in the ninth and struck out one.

The bats for the Giants were hot right out of the gate as they totaled 11 runs in the first three innings of the game which included five runs in the third. They out hit the Phoenix, 16-9.

With Keystone advancing to the championship, they will face the winner of Wilson and Cairn at 3 p.m. The Phoenix and Highlanders will square off in an elimination game at 11 a.m. to decide who will be playing in the conference championship.
