Kean Bests Brockport, 12-2

Union, N.J. (2/25/24)Phil Marcantonio drove in four and Kyle Adorno recorded four hits as the Kean University baseball team improved to 6-1 with a 12-2 win over SUNY Brockport on Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Brockport (0-2) took advantage of early walks in the game and plated single runs in the first and second to take a 2-0 lead.

Kean responded with one in the bottom of the second as Tyler Stone drove in CJ Tomalavage, who reached on a leadoff double.

Marcantonio gave the Cougars the lead for good in the bottom of the third with a three-run homer, his third homerun of the season, for a 4-2 lead.

The Cougars tacked on a single run in the fourth before breaking the game open in the sixth with five runs to take a 10-2 lead. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

Nick Nemes (1-0) got his first win of the season by tossing four and two thirds innings of relief.  He allowed no runs, two hits and two walks while striking out four.

Stone was 2-for-2 with two runs scored and an RBI.
