Redlands Baseball drops game one of their Pomona-Pitzer series

REDLANDS, Calif. – The University of Redlands baseball team (7-7, 2-5) lost 15-3 to Pomona-Pitzer on Friday  afternoon at The Yard as their 5-0 and 9-1 deficits were too large to overcome.

With the score in the Sagehens favor, 5-0, in the bottom of the third Will Cell singled into center and brought home Jake Burgess who had doubled to lead off the inning.

In the fifth with no one on and two outs Cell got another hit as he doubled down the right field line. Lead off hitter Luke De Vries was able to take advantage of Cell's hit as he hit the ball right back the way it came for an RBI-single into center.

The third and final Bulldog run was in the sixth when Tyler Preece hit a solo home run just to the left of dead center.

In that sixth inning Redlands would have Gabriel Ceja at second and Burgess at first after a two out single and walk, but they would be left stranded in the Bulldogs' last dangerous inning.

Cell went 2-for-3 with a run and RBI. De Vries reached twice with a hit, walk, and an RBI.

Redlands will travel to Claremont tomorrow for a doubleheader with Pomona-Pitzer at 11:00 a.m. as they will have to win both to win the series.
