DAVENPORT, FL - Senior Mike Shannon tossed a complete game as #16 Rowan defeated #10 Aurora, 5-2, as the Profs opened play at the RussMatt Invitational and improved to 2-1 on the season.

Shannon struck out nine batters to earn his first win of the year and post the second complete game of his career. He got help offensively as Phil Sedalis (3-for-4) and Dylan Maria (2-for-3) each homered and Jason Morgan went 3-for-4 as the Profs scored five runs on 10 hits.

Sedalis started things off with a two-run shot in the first inning, bringing home Tyler Cannon, who led off with a single. Maria hit a sacrifice fly in the third to allow Sedalis to score, giving Rowan a 3-0 lead.

Aurora (6-1) scored its runs in the sixth inning as the Spartans put together four hits and scored on an RBI single and sacrifice fly with the bases loaded.

The Profs added insurance runs in the sixth when Maria hit his second home run of the season over the fence in left center. Then Pat Defeciani doubled and scored on a single by Morgan.
Rowan is back in action at 9 a.m. on Friday against Saint Vincent.
