Redlands Baseball falls in non-conference game on Tuesday to Montclair State

REDLANDS, Calif. – The University of Redlands baseball team (7-10) fell behind 6-0 in the first inning before losing 12-2 in their final non-conference home game of the season.

Trailing 9-0 in the bottom of the fourth inning Luke Hanson singled home Will Cell who reached base on a leadoff walk.

The Bulldogs second run came in the eighth when Tyler Preece and Cade McClelland reached on a single and walk to begin the inning. Then following a walk to Cell, Lucas Romero just missed a grand slam as he hit a sacrifice fly to the wall in left that allowed Preece to score from third.

After a rough start from the pitching staff, Jack Brown and John Hernandez both came on and combined to throw 2.2 scoreless innings with five strikeouts.

Redlands will return to Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) play this Friday when they host the California Institute of Technology at 3:00 p.m. in a single game at The Yard.
