Game One: Plattsburgh 10, St. Lawrence 9

The Cards trailed 6-0 after two innings and 9-3 after four innings but eventually came back for a come-from-behind win, scoring seven runs in their final three at-bats to win 10-9. Kornblau's solo blast in the fifth is the 11th of his career, tying the program record set by Pat Shaughnessy back in 2012. He also is now tied for fourth place for homers in a single season at five, with the record of six set by Shaughnessy (2010), Joe Curcio (2009), and Dave Waldron (2005).

Kornblau, Caldwell, and Defayette each had three hits to lead the offensive charge, while Ben Catrambone (Niskayuna, N.Y./Niskayuna) had two hits, two runs, and an RBI, and Conner Gonzalski (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) had a two-run double. Agan scattered seven hits, allowed three runs, and struck out eight to earn the win, as he worked scoreless innings in the final three frames to keep Plattsburgh within striking distance the entire way.

St. Lawrence jumped out to an early, sizable lead, putting up two runs in the first and four in the second inning, going up 6-0 after two full innings.

The Cardinals were able to cut into the lead into the third as Defayette doubled to lead off the frame and Catrambone singled him home. After Kornblau doubled, Gonzalski doubled as well, pulling a ball down the left field to score both Catrambone and Kornblau, making the score 6-3.

In the fourth, St. Lawrence was able to regain the six-run lead, with three runs and three hits, all with two outs to go up 9-3.

In the fifth, Kornblau homered to straightaway center field, putting his team within five. After a scoreless home half of the inning, the Cards poured it on in the sixth inning. A leadoff double from Caldwell turned into an RBI groundout from Jonathan Beale (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Peter's Boys), put made it two outs and no one on base in the inning.

Defayette restarted the rally for the Cards, singling to left, followed by a Catrambone double. Kornblau followed with a single to left, scoring a run before the St. Lawrence defense gifted Plattsburgh the next three runs to tie the game. After a passed ball scored Catrambone, an error scored Kornblau, prolonging the inning and putting the tying run on base. A single followed, advancing the tying run to third base. In the next at-bat, with the runner attempting to steal second, the throw down to end the inning was late, allowing the tying run to score on the throw.

After a 1-2-3 sixth from Agan, Caldwell doubled to lead off the inning, putting the go-ahead run in scoring position. After a pinch-runner was entered, the next batter reached on an error, putting runners at the corners with no outs. A strikeout followed and Defayette was able to line a single through the left side in the next at-bat, giving Plattsburgh a 10-9 lead.

In the bottom of the seventh, Agan quickly recorded the first out but then gave up a single to put the tying run on base. After a pinch-runner, Agan struck out the next two batters, stranding the tying run on base and earning his first win of the season.

David Zuhlsdor took the game-one loss, giving up two runs in 1.1 innings of work while John Gannon and Matt Davis were each 3-4 with a double, with Gannon driving in two runs and Davis one.

Game Two: St. Lawrence 9, Plattsburgh 0

After the Saints bullpen blew a six-run lead in game one, their pitching staff turned it around, combining for a four-hit shutout over the Cardinals in game two. Christian Mingione earned the win, while Teaghin Andrew and JJ Humenay each had scoreless outings out of the bullpen.

Plattsburgh had four hits, led by Kornblau who was 1-2 with a walk and HBP, reaching three times in four plate appearances. Caldwell and Gonzalski each had base hits, with the other coming from Justice Suafoa (Kinderhook, N.Y./Ichabod Crane). Tyler Kohn (Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Sachem North) took the loss on the mound, letting up just two earned runs, and Matt Edwards (Commack, N.Y./Commack) tossed a scoreless inning out of the bullpen.

St. Lawrence was able to get the scoring started as an error allowed a run to score in the second inning. The Saints added two runs in the third as Sean Desjardins hit a two-run shot to left. They added on two more in the fifth with another two-run homer off the bat of Timothy Connor, taking a 5-0 lead through five innings. They were able to add on four more in the sixth, sealing the win to take a nine-run lead into the top of the seventh.

In their final at-bat, the Cardinals threatened with back-to-back one-out walks, but a double play on a lineout ended the frame, giving the Saints the win.

O'Connor finished 3-4 with three RBI, while Desjardins and Davis also finished 3-4 but with two RBI each.
