June 14, 2025 Lequia hired at Carthage Lequia was named the 16th head coach in Carthage baseball history to lead the team in 2025. He replaced Firebird legend Augie Schmidt IV in the dugout. A native of Racine, Wis., Lequia attended Bradley University for three years from 2005 to 2007 before transferring to Carthage for his senior season in 2009. He was named American Baseball Coaches Association second-team All-Central Region and second-team All-CCIW in 2009. Lequia graduated from Carthage in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in secondary education.
April 22, 2025 Carthage doubles up D2 Parkside on Tuesday Retiring Carthage head coach Augie Schmidt opened his last ten regular season games with a 6-3 win over D2 Parkside. Pacific Lutheran also got a win over D2 competition with a 8-2 win over D2 St. Martin's.

October 1, 2024 Carthage's Schmidt to retire following 2025 season Augie Schmidt IV, a Carthage College legend and the driving force behind the Carthage baseball program for nearly four decades, announced he will retire after the 2025 season. Assistant coach John Lequia '09 will succeed Schmidt as head coach.
April 24, 2024 Carthage's Schmidt joins 1000 win club Carthage took on UW-Oshkosh at home on Wednesday afternoon. The Firebirds gained momentum throughout the middle innings, securing the win that gave Augie Schmidt IV his 1,000th victory in his 37th season as head coach at Carthage College.
May 8, 2022 Carthage Thumps Ripon, 19-1, in Firebirds' Season Finale on May 8 The Carthage College baseball team (15-25) closed out its 2022 season on Sunday, May 8 with a 19-1 win over non-conference opponent Ripon College (17-21) at Francis Field in Ripon, Wis.
