Senior Howie Smith pitched his third complete game of the season in a 4-1 victory for the Earlham Quakers over Anderson in HCAC action on Friday evening. Smith tallied six strikeouts and walked zero batters while allowing seven hits and one earned run. The win, Smith's sixth of the season, gives the senior 20 career wins, the most in program history.

No. 1 Shenandoah earned its 30th win of the season with a 5-4, 11-inning ODAC victory over No. 11 Randolph-Macon. Shenandoah scored the game-winning run in the top of the 11th thanks to a Dan Cameron double to right. Cameron's double, one of 12 hits on the day for the Hornets, scored Abel Arocho from first. Arocho had reached with a two-out single to right. Both teams will meet in a double-dip on Saturday as they started the day behind ODAC leading Washington and Lee.
Home plate in Friday's CAC action will need replacing. Over the course of three games 83 players crossed the plate on the day. Salisbury flew into the title game with a 25-10 win over Wesley, while Mary Washington scored 34 on the day to come out of the elimination bracket. The Eagles eliminated Marymount 18-3 and then Wesley 16-11 and will need to win twice on Saturday to earn the CAC tournament title and NCAA playoff ticket.
For the third straight week, Belhaven rallies to come-from-behind and win a ballgame in game two of a doubleheader, but this time, they accomplish the feat on the road, defeating LeTourneau 16-4 in game one and completing the comeback 8-6 in 10 innings from Conrad-Vernon Field.
Despite trailing 2-0 to host CCNY , SUNY New Paltz responded with 10 unanswered runs en route to a 10-2 non-conference win over the visiting Beavers at Loren Campbell Field. With the victory, the Hawks improve to 15-14 overall and will host Ithaca tomorrow. Overall, the Hawks pounded out nine hits, led by senior Anthony Diana, who finished 2-for-3 with two doubles, two walks and four runs scored.
The No. 6-ranked Texas-Tyler Patriots earned a 15-6 series opening win over McMurry at Irwin Field with Gunnar Quick leading the team with four hits and Ryan Cheatham securing his eighth win of the season and remained unbeaten. The Patriots are now 17-2 at home this season with Cheatham improving to 8-0 after allowing only two runs through five innings of work. Texas-Tyler finished the game with 15 hits.

Billy Peatross lifted No. 2 LaGrange to a 6-5 10-inning victory over Greensboro at Cleaveland Field in Williamson Stadium. The Panthers improved to 36-4, tying them with the 2003 team for the most wins in a season. They will attempt to set a new record Saturday when the two teams play a doubleheader on Senior Day. Casey Bell started the 10th inning with a with a base hit to left. Bell got his 200th career hit in the eighth inning. Blake Butcher followed with an opposite field single and Blane Swift laid down a bunt single to load the bases. Peatross hit a long fly ball to center off reliever Christian Kercado to drive in pinch-runner Grant Perry with the winning run
Rowan took the back end of the home-and-home series with TCNJ, defeating the 13th-ranked Lions, 5-4 in a NJAC contest. Righthander Brad Machinski threw 7.1 innings for his fifth win of the season. He surrendered four runs, three earned, and nine hits while striking out three. Righty Rob Grilli did not allow a hit in the final 1.2 frames for his third save. Righthanded pitcher Michael Walley suffered the loss, his first of the season.
Gwynedd Mercy defeated Cabrini, 6-2, to open up the CSAC weekend series and win their fifth-straight game. Justin Curtin had three hits on the day while scoring twice. Dave Tatoian and Nick Mulvey each added a pair of hits with Tatoian adding an RBI and Mulvey a run scored. The duo of Zach Dennis and R.J. Boyle led the Griffins on the mound. Dennis worked four innings, striking out a pair and allowing just one run. Boyle, who earned the win, worked five innings out of the bullpen striking out six Cavaliers and also allowing just a run as well.
The first game was a pitcher's duel, while the second game was a batters' delight. Regardless of the style of the game, the outcome was all that mattered to John Carroll as the Blue Streaks were on the high side of a pair of victories at Schweickert Field. Behind Drew Vargo's brilliant start and a clutch hit late by Jason Large, the homestanding Blue Streaks defeated Heidelberg, 5-2, in the opener of an OAC twinbill. In the nightcap, JCU plated 19 runs -- the most it was scored against the Berg in the history of the series -- in a 19-5 triumph to complete the doubleheader sweep.
Keystone opened this weekend's CSAC series against Cairn with an 11-4 victory in Langhorne. The Giants improve to 20-9 overall and 11-2 in conference play while the Highlanders fall to 13-13 on the spring including a 3-10 mark in league contests. Troy Terzi improved to 6-0 on the year with another strong start for the Giants, striking out 10 batters while scattering five hits and one walk over seven scoreless innings. Jack Simons allowed one run on one hit and one walk in the eighth inning before Dan Maguire closed out the victory with three runs against on three hits while striking out two batters in the ninth inning.
After a week off from SCIAC competition, the No. 22 Cal Lutheran Kingsmen picked up where it left off with a 13-1 mercy-rule rout over Caltech on Friday afternoon at Ullman Stadium. With the win, the Kingsmen have now won 10 straight conference games and hold on a slim lead on first place in the SCIAC.

Freshman designated hitter Lenin Gomez hit two home runs, a solo shot in the second to tie it at 1-1 and a two-run homer in the eighth, and sophomores Kyle Kafer and Nate Facey combined on a three-hitter as New Jersey City split a series with Montclair State, winning 4-1 in Jersey City. Kafer, who came in in the third inning in NJCU's leveraged-starter system, allowed just three hits in the final 7.0 innings and retired the final 13 batters of the game in order.
Matt Steindorf pitched a complete game and the Willamette Bearcats rallied from a 3-0 deficit to defeat Pacific Lutheran, 6-5, in the first round of the 2017 NWC Tournament at Roy Helser Field. Eric Del Prado blasted a two-run double down the left field line to score Aaron Fong and Perry Van Eckhardt with the tying and go-ahead runs for a 5-4 lead in the bottom of the seventh. Earlier in the inning, Van Eckhardt singled home Kyle Paguio to pull Willamette within 4-3. The Bearcats scored a total of four runs in the seventh to take a 6-5 advantage into the eighth. Whitworth defeated Linfield 4-3 in the other NWC tournament game and will face Willamette on Saturday.
The College of Staten Island kept on rolling this afternoon with a 4-3 win over St. Joseph's (Brooklyn) at the CSI Baseball Complex. This afternoon's win marks the third straight home victory for the Dolphins while also bolstering their win streak to 10 in a row. The win improves the Dolphins mark to 20-7-1 while knocking the Bears down to 12-14 on the year.
Concordia-Texas earned a 11-8 win over Hardin-Simmons in the opener of its ASC series with Concordia, 11-8 in Austin. After HSU had scored five runs in the top of the eighth inning to take an 8-6 lead, Concordia answered with five runs to take the 11-8 lead. The game featured 368 pitches, 13 pitchers, 15 walks, and six errors and took four hours to play.
Reid Gibbs and Occidental pulled off a big comeback in a 9-8 win at Pomona-Pitzer. In the first game of a three-game series with the Sagehens this weekend, the Tigers trailed 6-1 before rallying for eight runs in the top of the seventh inning to take a 9-6 lead. Gibbs, Occidental's shortstop who finished the day 3-for-3, had a pair of RBI-doubles in the inning, bringing in its first and last run.
