The Team of the Week is D3baseball.com's weekly honor roll, in its twelfth season of recognizing the top performers at each of nine positions from the previous week. Players are selected from nominations from their school's sports information directors. This is the eighth Team of the Week of the 2024 season.

Games of April 1-7, 2024

C   Logan Eilbacher, Fr., Catholic

Eilbacher continued to shine in an expanded role as he logged multi-hit games in all three contests versus the Drew Rangers this weekend. Eilbacher went 7-for-10 (.700) at the plate with a double, a triple, and two home runs while driving in five runs in the three-game sweep. Eilbacher scored six runs and drew a walk while raising his season batting average to .364. He is currently riding a seven-game hit streak with multiple hits in five of those seven contests.

1B  Jonathan McMath, Jr., Marymount

McMath was a staple in the middle part of the order for the Saints as they picked up four Atlantic East wins over the course of last week, sweeping the preseason conference favorites in Immaculata. Hitting .400 through the week (6-for-15), slugging 1.133, McMath powered three home runs and two doubles, including a grand slam in the deciding third game over the Mighty Macs, to collect nine total RBI. The weekend secured the top spot in the conference for the Saints. 

2B  Jacob Grossman, Sr., Emory

Grossman went 7-for-15  with six extra base hits to help Emory split a road UAA series at NYU. Grossman collected five doubles and one home run as he hit .467 to go along with a 1.000 slugging %, .579 on-base percentage and scored eight times.

SS  Peter Rogers, Jr., Rose-Hulman

Rogers was lights out all weekend long to help lead Rose-Hulman to a three-game sweep of Bluffton. The shortstop finished 9-for-15 (.600) hitting with seven runs scored and 11 RBIs. He also added four extra-base hits including two doubles and two home runs. In the opening game of the series, Rogers became just the fifth player in Rose-Hulman history to tally seven RBIs in a single game.

3B  Andrew Fernandez, Jr., TCNJ

Fernandez hit .714 (10-for-14) with a 1.860 OPS for the Lions last week. Half of his 10 hits were doubles, and he drew three walks as part of a .789 on-base percentage.

OF  Anselmo Joya, Jr., St. Joseph's (L.I.)

Joya led the Golden Eagles at the plate in a 4-0 week, hitting .778 (7-for-9), with four doubles, three triples, eight runs scored and five RBI. The junior drew five walks and swiped four bases in four attempts, posting a 1.889 slugging percentage with an .867 on-base percentage.

OF Edrick Padilla, Sr., Ohio Wesleyan

Padilla powered the Bishops to doubleheader sweep of Hiram on Saturday for OWU's first 2 conference wins of the season. He batted .500 (5-for-10) with five runs schored and five RBIs. All of his hits went for extra bases with two doubles, a tiple and two home runs.

OF Vinny Troccoli, Sr., Northland

Over a three-game series, Troccoli went 4-for-10 (.400) at the plate with three home runs and a double. The senior recorded 14 RBIs, five runs, and drew four walks. He slugged 1.400. In his only relief appearance, he pitched 3.1 innings, struck out four batters, and earned the win.

OF Gus Walker, Jr., Marian

Walker helped Marian secure its first sweep over Concordia Chicago in program history with a big performance in game two of a NACC twin bill. Walker went 3-for-4 (.750) driving in five runs and scoring a run of his own. Two of his three hits were doubles, one being a bases-clearing two-bagger, to give him a 1.250 slugging percentage for the game. He would also draw a walk in the victory to give him an .800 on-base percentage.

DH  Mitchell Schroeder, Sr.,  Middlebury

Schroeder led Middlebury to a series sweep over Bowdoin with three sensational performances. The Panther averaged .625 (5-for-8) at the plate and slugged 1.875 with five hits, a double, three homers, five runs scored, and 12 RBI. Schroeder shined in doubleheader action on Saturday, going 4-for-5 with a pair of grand slams. The senior surpassed the 100 career-hits mark, now totaling 103. Schroeder's seven RBI and two homers during the opening game both tie for third-most in a single game in the Middlebury record books.

SP  Johnny Blake, Sr., Dubuque

Blake recorded his fourth win of the season in a 7-2 win over Simpson. The senior recorded a school record 17 strikeouts over his 24 batters faced. In his seven innings of work, Blake allowed one hit and gave up a single walk. In four of his seven starts this season, he has recorded double-digit strikeouts.

SP  Cody Bosak, Jr., Catholic

Bosak was unbelievable as the Cardinals completed a three-game sweep of the Drew Rangers on Sunday afternoon. Bosak tossed a complete game shutout, holding the Rangers to just five baserunners while whiffing a career-high 14 batters. Bosak is the first Cardinal since Tucker Alch in April 2022 to strike out 14 batters in a contest.

SP  Landon Clark, Jr., MUW

Clark had one of the best outings in the program's young history on Friday versus SLIAC co-leader Eureka Colege. In game two of MUW?s doubleheader win, Clark took a no-hitter into the seventh inning before allowing a high-hop single up the middle with one out. That's all Clark permitted during his 8.0 innings of work, striking out seven Red Devils and walking just one, to improve his personal record to 3-0 in 2024. Clark faced three batters over the minimum, as he extended his scoreless-innings streak to 17.

SP  Mikey Gutierrez, Fr., Cairn

Gutierrez picked up right where he left off from last week, throwing his second-straight complete game, this time in shutout fashion as he held the opposing lineup to a single hit and struck out seven hitters leading to an 8-0 win in game one of Cairn's conference series on Saturday.

SP  Nolan Sparks, Sr., Rochester

Sparks was lights out for Rochester on the mound on Saturday during a 2-0 win over Clarkson to open the weekend conference series. The senior tossed a 9-inning complete game shutout, surrendering just three hits, no walks and one HBP while matching his season-high with nine strikeouts. The senior hit the career 200-strikeout plateau in the victory and tossed UR's first 9-inning complete game shutout since 2019.

RP Kyle Lewis, Sr., Marymount

Lewis put up one of his top outings on the mound for the Saints in the game two win over Immaculata to take the series, ultimately sweeping the Mighty Macs the next day. Coming into the game with the bases loaded and nobody out in the top of the fifth inning staring at a 4-1 deficit, Lewis struck out the next three batters without allowing anymore runs to push momentum to the Marymount dugout. He finished out the game without allowing a hit, striking out six Mighty Macs, to secure the win and the series for the Saints.

RP Will Paoli, Sr., Ramapo

Ramapo went 4-0 in NJAC play this week with Paoli picking up three straight saves. In 1.2 innings of work he did not let up a hit to help lead the Roadrunners to key NJAC sweeps over Rutgers-Newark and NJCU.
