The Crown College Athletic Department is excited to announce the hiring of Mike Gmetro as the new Head Baseball and Golf Coach.  Gmetro will start at Crown on January 2nd.

Gmetro comes to Crown from Detroit, Michigan where he served as the associate pastor for the Acts 29 Fellowship in inner-city Detroit.  Prior to his time working in full-time ministry, Mike had a successful playing career at New Mexico State University, where he served as team captain and was the recipient of the Student Athlete Award for three years.

"From our first meeting with Mike, his passion for the Lord and for baseball were evident," noted Director of Athletics, Josh Dunwoody.  "We are extremely excited to have someone with Mike's passion and baseball expertise on staff.  We are also encouraged by Mike's heart for ministry and the leadership and spiritual mentorship he will provide for these two programs."

Mike and his wife Liza, along with three year old daughter Lila, will arrive in Waconia in mid-December.  Mike had this to say about accepting the position at Crown.

“The Lord has given me a tremendous burden for raising up the next generation to be fully devoted followers of Christ on the field, in the classroom, and in their daily lives. Baseball is a platform that allows athletes to bring God glory in the way they come everyday ready to compete and in the way they take care of their teammates.”
