A game-winning walk-off walk in the bottom of the seventh and a sacrifice fly in the top of the 10th inning earned baseball a 4-3 and 2-1 doubleheader sweep of Edgewood Friday afternoon at the Player Development Complex.
For the second straight day at the UAA Baseball Championships, Rochester held off a 9th inning rally from its opponent for a 7-6 victory over Brandeis. Rochester reliever Evan Janifer recorded a strikeout and then induced a ground out with the tying and winning runs on base in the bottom of the 9th inning to lead Rochester to its second straight win. In other UAA activity Zack Kessinger's bases-load hit to deep center made Washington (Mo.) a 4-3 walkoff winner over Case Western Reserve.
Wartburg stopped Albion's four-game winning streak. The Knights took advantage of eight walks in building a 9-0 lead after 2 ½ innings and they cruised to a 15-5 victory over the Britons.
Penn State Behrend swept a double header from Westminster (Pa.) in Florida. In game one, Dante DeSantis pitched a complete-game shutout to lead the Lions to a 6-0 victory. The senior went the distance for Behrend, striking out eight while surrendering no walks and just two hits. Behrend took game two by a 5-1 score behind Alex Margraf's 3-for-4 effort.
Merchant Marine completed a doubleheader sweep of John Jay with 9-4 and 17-3 triumphs over the Bloodhounds. Warren Hartmann continued his hot start to the season with a 6-for-7 day at the plate along with seven RBI and three stolen bases. The Mariners stole 12 bases in the twin bill and racked up 25 total hits.

In only his second-career start, freshman pitcher Hayden Haight threw a complete-game shutout as Redlands downed Whittier at The Yard, 6-0. In the SCIAC triumph, the Bulldogs put together a complete performance as a team and used timely hitting and clutch defensive plays to secure the important victory.

Berry toppled Transylvania 22-1. The Vikings knocked 22 hits and 17 RBIs setting new school records for NCAA Division III. 22 runs set another DIII record breaking the previous 18-run record. Ben Jernigan pitched six innings while only allowing one hit in the 21 batters faced. Braxton Teal and Casey Coats finished the game for Berry.
Centenary opened CSAC play with a wild 21-17 victory over Cairn at Diamond Nation. Centenary trailed 10-2 entering the bottom of the fourth inning, but plated 16 runs over a three-inning stretch to pull out the victory. The 39 combined runs scored were the third-highest total ever during a Centenary baseball game.
The Central Dutch swept its opening Tucson Invitational Games with 4-3 and 9-4 victories over Dordt and Bethany Lutheran at the Kino Sports Complex. Despite the fact that Dordt (7-5) was on the tail end of its trip and Central (3-2) had just arrived in the Grand Canyon State, the Dutch matched the Defenders’ energy and tallied the one-run result in the opener.
Covenant snapped its four-game losing streak as Scott Gillespie delivered a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth lifting the Scots to a 4-3 USA South win over Piedmont. Gillespie finished 2-for-4 with an RBI and a walk. Chris Rollins was one of six different Scots to record a hit as he went 1-for-3 with a home run and two runs.

Roger Williams took one of two from Keene State, falling 3-9 before a 6-4 victory. The Hawks fell behind 4-0 in the second game but added three in the fourth and three more in the fifth to put Roger Williams on top 6-4. Tyler Pogmore came on in the seventh for his fourth save of the season.
Zach Stuart fanned seven batters to match a career-high and Andrew Cooper threw two scoreless innings to earn the save, leading Wesley to a 3-2 victory over Marymount in CAC action. Stuart allowed just two runs over seven innings and did not walk a batter while Cooper struck out the final two Saints looking.
Freshman Aaron Denis picked up his second win in as many starts as he scattered five hits and struck out seven to help the Wentworth salvage a split with a 10-1 win over SUNYIT. The win came after the Wildcats had defeated the Leopards, 6-3, in the first game of the non-conference doubleheader.
Mary Hardin-Baylor used a pair of late inning rallies to post comeback victories as the Cru swept a doubleheader from Mississippi College in Belton. UMHB took both games by 4-3 scores.
