Junior Kevin Johnstone threw his second career complete game to lead No. 16 nationally ranked Case Western Reserve to a 2-1 victory versus No. 7 Heidelberg on a chilly Wednesday afternoon at Nobby's Ballpark. The Spartans won the three-game season series with the Student Princes.

Alvernia got five terrific innings from Matt Backlund in relief and posted double digit runs for the second time in three days in a 14-8 win over #21 Moravian College in non-conference baseball action at Angelica Park. The Crusaders were led at the plate by Richie Ricciardi who went 4-for-5 with three runs scored.

Trailing 12-0 heading into the fourth inning, Ursinus proceeded to score 19 runs in the top of the fourth, then added six more in the fifth as the Bears rallied to defeat Arcadia 25-14 in non-conference baseball action at Erny Field. The Bears' 19 runs in the fourth was the second-best all-time by a Centennial Conference school in an inning (record is 23, held by McDaniel in a win over Lincoln in 2002). Ursinus had 13 hits in the marathon inning, one off the record of 14 held by Dickinson.

In a matchup between North Shore Cup rivals and regionally ranked teams, Endicott dropped a 4-2 decision to Salem State at North Field as Vikings starting pitcher, sophomore Sean Buckland, spun complete-game victory, allowing just one earned run with seven strikeouts as New England's sixth-ranked Salem State defeated the seventh-ranked Gulls. Salem State fell behind 1-0 in the second but took contol with a three run fifth.

Eastern trailed 17-3 entering the bottom of the fifth. “We were down two touchdowns,” Eagles’ head coach Jed Morris said. “We had some good pitching at the tail end of the game that kept us in it and our hitters stayed behind the baseball.”  Joe Grato's walk-off grand slam against Lebanon Valley completed a 14-run comeback as Eastern won 21-18.

Lancaster Bible showed it still has some fight left in it this season as the Chargers scored a come-from-behind victory over Penn St. Berks in game two to earn a doubleheader split with the Nittany Lions at Charger Field. Lancaster won the nightcap 6-3 and dropped the opening game 14-3.

Junior Sean MacPhee went 2-for-4 and sparked a five-run eighth inning with a two-run single as visiting Babson rallied to defeat fifth-ranked Southern Maine, 6-4. First-year Jack Halpin led all players with three hits and junior Chris Warren had two hits and scored a pair of runs for the Beavers.

he Springfield College baseball team picked up a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) win on Thursday, beating visiting Emerson, 12-2 on Berry-Allen Field.

Springfield was led by the bats of Keith Cotnoir (Westhampton, Mass.), Jared Hopkins (Cranston, R.I.) and Shane O'Leary (Kings Park, N.Y.) in the win. Cotnoir drove in three runs while Hopkins and O'Leary drove in two each. Frank Calabrese (East Longmeadow, Mass.) and Steve Starr (Lebanon, Conn.) each tallied two hits.

Tyler Kelly (Absecon, N.J.) earned the win on the mound in his first collegiate start for the Pride. Kelly went five innings, allowing three hits and just one run while striking out four.
