Trinity used the big inning in Monday win

Fourth-ranked Trinity (Texas) scored eight runs in the eighth inning to surge to a 13-5 win over Denison on Monday night. The Tigers allowed four runs in the top of the fourth inning, but were able to claw back to take a 5-4 lead in the sixth.  After Denison tied the game 5-5 in the seventh, Trinity's offense hammered out seven hits, including a double and three triples, to take command of the game.

In a game that featured head coaches with a combined 2,146 career games. Johns Hopkins defeated a ranked team for the first time this season, knocking off 21st-ranked Wooster 9-1. Hopkins never trailed in the game and broke open a 2-1 pitchers' duel with seven runs in the top of the eighth inning.

Liam Nolan went 3-4 with 7 runs batted in and the MCLA offense scored 11 runs with two outs as they cruised past Becker College 14-5 in the opening game of the doubleheader.  The Trailblazer offense pounded out 17 hits in the victory. Becker took the nightcap 7-4.

La Roche hit four home runs in their home opener to split with Grove City, winning game one 12-6 and losing the nightcap 13-6 at John Arnold Sr. Memorial Field.

Belhaven improved to 4-2 on the current 11-game home stand with a 10-0 shutout of Tougaloo at Smith-Wills Stadium. The Blazers outhit Tougaloo 8-2 in a game that saw some sloppy play with five errors committed.

In a wild game that featured 20 hits by each team and a total of 18 walks and seven errors, Rutgers-Camden suffered their first loss of the season, 22-20, at the hands of top ranked Cortland. It was a contest where both teams saw seemingly-safe leads vanish before the Red Dragons hung on for the win.

Freshman Aaron Barclay went 4-for-5 with two home runs and eight RBI to go along with seven runs scored in a Washington College doubleheader sweep of Albertus Magnus at Crosley Field at the Ripken Experience.  The Shoremen won game one by an 11-0 score and took game two, 19-8.

Nick Lehner had two hits in the game on win, including the third home run of his career, as well as a career-high three runs scored.

Edgewood unveiled some pop in the offensive lineup, pounding out eight extra base hits in a doubleheader sweep of Lasell. The Eagles held off a late Laser rally for a 9-7 win in game one and rode a complete game pitching performance by Andy Swanson to a 10-2 victory in game two.

UW-Stout started the season 2-0 as they swept Heidelberg in a pair of close games in Florida. The Blue Devils won game one in extra innings and grabbed an early lead for a 7-4 victory in game two.

UMass Dartmouth senior lefty Aaron Chouinard hurled a complete-game, 7-2 victory over Endicott in the 2016 RussMatt Central Florida Invitational. Chouinard scattered eight hits with one walk over his nine innings pitched while striking out six batters to lead the Corsairs.

Texas-Dallas got back win column with a pair of wins to take its ASC series at East Texas Baptist and evened its season record after being mired in a four-game losing streak. The Comets rebounded after a tough 14-2 loss to ETBU Sunday night to blast 22 combined hits in Monday's sweep of the host Tigers. Texas-Dallas took Monday's opener, 12-8, before holding on for a 5-3 win in the series finale.

William Paterson split a seven-inning doubleheader against Franklin and Marshall, dropping the first game, 1-0, before taking the nightcap, 5-3. It was an unearned run that was the difference in the opener with a four run first in game two to provide a winning margin.

Mitchell wrapped up its spring trip with a 12-8 loss to Amherst. The Mariners led 5-1 after three innings but fell behind in the sixth when Amherst struck for nine runs.

Inclement weather did its very best, but the Bruins won their series with Whitman after three waterlogged days. Whitman took game one, played over Saturday and Sunday, but the Bruins recovered to win game two, which began on Sunday and finished Monday, 11-4. The rubber game was high-scoring: Whitman held a 6-1 lead, but the Bruins scored seven over the final three innings to take a 10-8 victory.

Redlands topped Rutgers-Newark by a score of 8-5 at The Yard in a non-conference baseball game. The contest was tied at five after five, but the Bulldogs scored single runs in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings to earn the victory.

TCNJ continued to swing hot bats as they defeated Babson 10-1 on at Lake Myrtle Park. The Lions pounded out 16 hits in the game to give sophomore right-hander Joe Cirillo plenty of run support for his third run of the season. Every starter had at least one hit, while leadoff hitter John Rizzi and second baseman Ben Varone each had three.

Suffolk extended their winning streak to five games with a doubleheader sweep over Plattsburgh State as part of the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational. Suffolk used a 12-run fourth inning in game one to cruise to an 18-5 victory before scoring two unanswered runs late in game two to complete the sweep with a 4-2 victory in the nightcap.

McDaniel scored multiple runs in three separate innings to top FDU-Florham 10-3. Marty Windisch led the Green Terror (9-1) with a 4-for-4 day at the plate and reached base in all five plate appearances.

Rowan defeated UMass Boston, 17-7 at Chain of Lakes Stadium. Shortstop Jason Clapper led the Profs with three hits (four at bats), a home run, four RBIs and three runs scored.  Second baseman Evan Hughes was four for five at the plate with two RBIs and three runs. Third baseman Shawn Leydon contributed with three hits, one RBI and two runs.
