Garrett Wong hit a walkoff double in the opener while a two-inning power surge proved more than enough in the nightcap as Pacific Lutheran University extended its win streak to eight on Sunday, earning a doubleheader sweep of Northwest Conference rival Lewis & Clark College. The Lutes etched out a 4-3 win in the opening game of the day before collecting the 8-4 victory in the series finale. In game one, Wong emerged as the hero in the bottom of the ninth, belting a walkoff double to right center field, scoring pinch runner Noah Claxton Ward for the 4-3 victory. PLU struck first in the nightcap and added for a 4-0 lead in the fifth. The Pios answered with a two-run shot in the sixth but the Lutes padded their lead again in the bottom of the frame with a Tori Doten single scoring Sean Kauffman and a three-run home run from Gormley to build a comfortable 8-2 buffer.

Transylvania continued its torrid run at the plate while sweeping the Defiance College Yellow Jackets in a doubleheader at Legends Ballpark on Sunday afternoon. The Pioneers stormed back with a late charge to earn a 7-5 victory in the first contest and conducted an offensive assault by battering the Yellow Jackets, 14-2 in the seven-inning second leg. The victories move the Pioneers up to 19-8 overall and in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference contests. The Yellow Jackets fall to 6-22 both overall and in HCAC play. Hudson Chastain reeled off a six-hit, five-RBI afternoon to lead an offensive charge for the Pioneers, who showed off their offensive depth all day long.
Alfred State fell behind early but was able to bounce back for a 12-7 victory over Elmira on Sunday afternoon. Elmira benefited from six walks in the 1st and grabbed a 5-0 lead but the Pioneers tied it in the bottom of the sixth inning when Gavin Moore hit a RBI single and Brody Burdett followed with a RBI double to left. The Pioneers took their first lead of the game in the 7th with six runs. Elmira plated a run in the 8th but could not get any closer. The Pioneer bullpen was superb. Chris Baldwin pitched 4.1 innings of relief without letting up a hit. He allowed one unearned run while walking two and striking out two. Connor Hong earned the win with 2.2 innings of relief and Devin Mersmann got the final four outs of the game.
Elizabethtown College took both games of the doubleheader from Catholic, 7-6 and 2-1, Sunday afternoon in Landmark Conference action. With the two wins, the Blue Jays improve to 9-7 on the season, while the Cardinals fall to 8-6 overall. Sophomore Ben Watson made his two hits on the day count, hitting a home run in game one, a triple in game two, while finishing with three runs scored and a RBI on the afternoon. Seniors Andrew Fisher and JT Thompson and junior Tyler McGonigle combined for five hits, three runs scored, four RBI, and a double over the two games.
Johnston and Wales won game one 8-6 and earned a 10-2 victory in the nightcap in a doubleheader with Albertus Magnus. In the opener, JWU climbed out to an 8-0 lead through the first five innings. To cap off a six run 3rd inning, Fleming smacked a two-run single to right center before senior Colby Greenhalgh's RBI double closed out a two-run 5th and gave JWU the eight run lead. After picking up a run in the 6th, the Falcons were able to grab five more in the top of the 7th before the Wildcats were able to escape with the 8-6 victory. In game two, the Wildcats scored early and often with six runs in the first three innings. Joe Maracic opened the scoring with a two-run single in the first and Fleming closed the scoring in the 3rd with an RBI single to right. A pair of two-run singles by classmates EJ Leone and Jack Magane finished the scoring for the day and gave JWU the 10-2 edge. Steve Rocchio pitched five innings and allowed one earned run while striking out six before Jake Hernandez struck out four of the six batters he faced in the final two innings to secure the win for the home team.
Mount Saint Mary College extended its winning streak to six games and completed a four-game sweep of St. Joseph's-Brooklyn with 8-1 and 5-1 victories over the Bears on Sunday. Anthony Pacifico worked 8.0 innings in the opener to earn the win and Ben Crowley drove in two runs in game two. After allowing a run in the first, Pacifico settled in to work 8.0 strong innings as he improved to 2-0 on the season. He allowed four hits to the Bears and struck out five. The Knights did all their scoring in game two in the fourth frame when they strung together four hits. Crowley finished game two 2-for-3 with a run and a pair of RBI.
Scoring the first four runs of the game and the last 12, the Linfield Wildcats won the first game of the doubleheader over the Pacific Boxers by a score of 16-7. The Boxers took game two by a score of 7-2 at Chuck Bufaro Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Linfield had the bases juiced and scored the first run of the game on a base hit by Levi Horner-Villa that scored Wyatt Smith, who led the game off with a single. Tanner Earhart had four hits and four RBIs in game one. Wyatt Smith had three hits as did Levi Horner-Villa. Brian Kraft got the start for the Boxers and got credited with the win. He gave up one earned run in four innings and had four strikeouts.
Led by a sensational day from third baseman Deaunte Fleming, Heidelberg University got a much-needed sweep on Sunday. HU took two from Muskingum, 17-3 in the opener, and 7-3 in the nightcap. Heidelberg batters rapped out 24 hits on the day, including three home runs. Heidelberg improved to 12-11-1 overall, 9-10-1 in the standings. The catalyst was Fleming. The Kettering native had a homer, a triple, two doubles and a single on the day, driving in six.

Allegheny won both games of a nonconference doubleheader over Hiram by scores of 5-0 and 4-3 to complete the six-game series. During the matinee, Hunter Lohr earned his second win of the season on the mound for the Gators. Lohr's first five of six innings pitched were no-hit as his only two hits of the afternoon came in the top of the sixth. Of his career-high 10 strikeouts, he got six batters swinging and struck out the side in the top of the second. Garrett Senchur shut the door on Hiram, not allowing a hit in his inning of relief and striking out two. Chase Chodkowski and Ben Kosbie led the Gator offense in game one with a 1-for-3 day at the plate and an RBI. Luke Chutko notched a hit, drew a walk and came around to score. Jacob Budnar drove in a run on a sacrifice fly. In the night cap, Brett Heckert hit a walk-off single that scored Dalton DuBois from second to secure the home sweep.

Immaculata returned to Marywood on Sunday afternoon to resume its series with the Pacers after having play suspended due to field conditions at Marywood on Saturday afternoon. Despite trailing in both games, Immaculata was able to rally and defeat Marywood by a final of 4-3 in game one and 12-5 in game two to remain perfect in Atlantic East play. With the game one victory, head coach Kevin Schneider passed former coach Bryan Torresani to become the winningest coach in Immaculata baseball program history as he registered his 79th and 80th career victories on Sunday afternoon. This sweep of the Pacers also extended the Macs winning streak to 13 games in a row, which is now tied for the longest winning streak in program history. The previous record was set during the 2011 season when Immaculata won 13 in a row from 3/30/11 to 4/26/11.
Brandeis University used a monumental fifth inning, batting around twice and scoring 15 runs, as the Judges defeated visiting Framingham State University, 21-11, on Stein Diamond. The win was the highest scoring output for the Judges under head coach Derek Carlson '91, and the team's best offensive showing since 2007. Brandeis improves to 9-3 on the season, avenging a sweep from earlier in the weekend, while FSU falls to 7-8. In the big fifth, Brandeis sent 19 batters to the plate to score their 15 runs. They reached base on 10 hits, four FSU errors and two walks. Drew Michaud drove in three runs on two singles in the frame, while senior Mike Khoury and sophomore Sam Nugent each had two hits that included an RBI double in the inning.
Starting pitchers Brandon Buchan and Shane Mugnolo led strong Cortland pitching performances as the Red Dragons swept host New Paltz, 17-1 and 5-1, in a pair of SUNYAC East contests. Cortland (15-3, 6-0 SUNYAC East) extended its winning streak to 10 games with the sweep. The Red Dragons are scheduled to host Brockport on Wednesday in a 1 p.m. doubleheader that will count in the league standings, even though Brockport is part of the SUNYAC Western division. Buchan, now 3-1 on the spring, allowed four hits and one run in six and a third innings. He struck out three and walked three. Mugnolo picked up his second win in three decisions this season after limiting the hosts to two hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out three batters, and the only run he allowed was unearned.
St. Joseph's (Long Island) completed a Skyline series sweep of Farmingdale State College with a split at Gregg Alfano Field on Sunday afternoon. The Golden Eagles (9-6, 8-4 Skyline) held on for a 4-3 win in game one before falling to the Rams (9-6, 8-4 Skyline) a non-conference bout 9-2 in the nightcap. The Rams made some noise in the top of the ninth but a failed suicide squeeze attempt caught Bobby Pollock coming home before a groundout to second recorded the final out to secure the 4-3 win. In game two, the Rams rallied for three runs with two outs in the top of the fifth and then went on to plate a run in each the sixth and seventh innings to capture the 9-2 non-conference win.
Anderson University turned in a split with Hanover College during Saturday's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader in Hanover. Hanover (15-12, 15-12) scored five runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to seal a 7-6 win in Game 1 with the help of a Charlie Burton grand slam and a walk-off RBI single by Eric Roudebush. The Ravens (14-9, 14-9) claimed a 7-5 victory in Game 2. Branton Sanders smashed two home runs during the doubleheader.
Lasell University Lasers swept a conference doubleheader against the Dean College Bulldogs, 17-2 and 14-9, Sunday at Longley Athletic Complex. The highlight for the Lasers was the game one performance which was led by a grand slam off the bat of junior Matt Bischof. Bischof helped lead the Lasers to a record tying 17 runs equaling a feat accomplished by the 2009 team against Rivier College. Game two saw the Lasers tie the school record for hits held by the 2011 team when they played Lesley University. The Lasers improve to 7-15 on the year and 6-4 in the GNAC while Dean moves to 3-3 on the year and 3-3 in the GNAC.
Senior James Fisher and junior Tom Pitko each had outstanding games on the mound to lead Ohio Northern to a 9-2, 2-1 sweep of Wilmington on a sunny Sunday afternoon at Wander Field. The Polar Bears won for the eighth time in their last nine games and improve to 11-12 overall and 10-9 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, while the Quakers fall to 4-18, 3-15. Pitko (4-2) threw a complete-game three-hitter, striking out five and allowing only one earned run as ONU rallied to win the nightcap 2-1. In the opener, Fisher (3-1) scattered 10 hits in 8.0 innings, allowing just two earned runs, to pick up the win.
Senior Brian McAuliffe became Denison's all-time leader in home runs as Denison split Sunday's doubleheader with Case Western Reserve at Big Red Field in Granville. McAuliffe powered the Big Red to a 15-4 win in game two after Denison dropped an 8-2 loss in the first game of the day. One day after tying Denison's career home run record with 21 in a 7-4 win at Case Western Reserve on Saturday, McAuliffe broke the tie in the bottom of the fourth in game two on Sunday when he blasted a three-run home run over the right centerfield wall to become the program's all-time home runs leader with 22, giving the Big Red an 8-3 lead. McAuliffe surpassed Lee Fischer '06, Alex Nikolich '04, and Brian Regan '04 who are now tied for second all-time with 21 home runs.
Husson (10-4, 10-0 North Atlantic Conference) overcame a two-hour delay and many Northern Vermont University-Lyndon comeback attempts en route to a doubleheader sweep on Sunday evening at the Harold Alfond Diamond. The Eagles won game one, 2-1, before blowing away the Hornets, 10-2, in the second game. The Hornets were able to tie the game in the top half of the sixth when Jordan Cane delivered a base hit to center field. The tie game only lasted five batters as the bottom half of the inning brought Jackson Curtis to the plate, hitting a base hit to left center field to score David LeBlanc as the Eagles regained the lead at 2-1. Ryan Robb came into the game and pitched a 1-2-3 seventh inning to help the Eagles take game one. The Eagles opened up the game in the bottom half of the inning when they scored eight runs on seven hits and batted around the order. Chris Ewanik highlighted the inning by driving in the go-ahead run before Swift, Rogerson, Warren (2), and Smith would drive in runs as well.
Wartburg College earned an American Rivers Conference series victory over Buena Vista after defeating the Beavers twice on Sunday with duplicate scores of 2-0. Joey Ciero, William Armstrong, and Aaron Eybers guided the Knights to a pair of shutouts as Wartburg took the series 3-1 after a split on Saturday. Mount Union swept a pair of games – 6-0 and 8-4 against John Carroll in an Ohio Athletic Conference doubleheader Sunday at Rafeld-Rogers Field. In game one, Ryan Osman pitched a complete-game shutout as he scattered six hits and struck out six to move to 3-1 on the season. Mount Union got going in early in game two and would send eight batters to the plate in the fifth inning and score five more runs to push the lead to 7-2. This wa all Colin Skufca needed as he picked up the win throwing the final five innings in relief for Mount Union while Matthew Aukerman took the loss on the mound for the Blue Streaks.
Franciscan swept Brthany 7-5 and 12-5 on Sunday. It would require extra innings for Franciscan to earn their first win against Bethany this season, as they won 7-5 in 10 innings. Franciscan would plate a pair of runs in the 10th. One came off a triple by Patrick Wallace, and the other off an Austin Horan sacrifice fly. Franciscan would keep up their Sunday success in the second one, the non-conference seven inning game. The Barons used a seven run swecond to secure the win and sweep of the Bisons.
Kalamazoo College swept Albion in a doubleheader at Woodworth Field on Sunday. Kalamazoo won the opener, 14-7, before completing the sweep and winning the series with a 15-7 win in game. Kalamazoo defeated Albion 14-7 in the opener. Albion led 6-3 after two innings. Kalamazoo scored six in the third, three in the fourth, and two in the sixth to take a 14-6 lead. Albion scored one run in the seventh leading to the 14-7 final. Kalamazoo scored in each of its six innings at the plate, including multiple runs in the first, second, fourth, and sixth. After putting up five runs in the first, Kalamazoo led 7-3 after two innings. Kalamazoo led 11-4 after the fourth and 15-7 after the sixth leading to the final score.
Saint John's (Minn.) completed the three-game sweep of Augsburg with an 11-5 win on Sunday, April 18, at Becker Park. The Johnnies (15-8, 5-7 MIAC) totaled 14 hits, including two home runs and five doubles (two ground-rule) in the win. Sophomore Alex Otto made his first start of the season (second of his collegiate career) and allowed five runs (two earned) on eight hits to improve to 4-0 on the year. He struck out six in 6.2 innings. Sophomore Cade Marsolek made his first pitching appearance since March 10, due to injury, and allowed four hits with two strikeouts in 2.1 scoreless innings of relief. Freshman outfielder Jack Schleper recorded the first 4-hit game of his collegiate career (4-for-4).
Marian University (10-16, 6-2 NACC) fell to Wisconsin Lutheran 6-5 but bounced back for a 4-3 win to earn a series victory over the Warriors. Wisconsin Lutheran looked poised to steal the win in the eighth with a pair of runs, but the Sabres were able to keep the game alive in the top of the ninth. Senior Jonah Landowski was able to draw a bases-loaded walk before Snow hit a sacrifice fly to tie the game at 5-5. The Warriors were able to respond in the bottom of the ninth, however, to earn the walk-off win. The Sabres were able to once again produce a run in the ninth when Bastien was able to score following a walk from sophomore Robbie Knorr. This time the Sabres would off the Warriors in their half of the ninth to salvage the split.
