The St. John Fisher College baseball team earned two more wins in Empire 8 play on Saturday as the Cardinals swept visiting Houghton College at Dugan Yard. With the wins, Fisher improved to 15-4 overall and remained atop the conference standings at 6-0 while the Highlanders fell to 10-7 and 2-4, respectively.

Ramapo split a NJAC doubleheader on the road today at Stockton. The Ospreys took game one 3-2 while the Roadrunners battled back to win game two, 11-6. The Roadrunners even their record at 6-6 overall and 5-5 in the NJAC while the Ospreys now stand at 6-8 overall and 4-6 in the conference. The Roadrunners would take a 2-1 lead into the bottom of the ninth inning before the Ospreys came back with two runs for a 3-2 walk-off victory. The Roadrunners belted out 12 hits including six extra base hits as they scored 11 runs in the second game.
Mount Union's bats were silenced in game one but came alive in game two as the Purple Raiders split a pair of Ohio Athletic Conference games Saturday at John Carroll. Mount Union belted out a season-high 18 runs on 17 hits in an 18-2 game stopped in seven innings in the nightcap after John Carroll held the Raiders to two runs on seven hits in a 3-2 Blue Streak win in the opener. The split leaves Mount Union at 14-6 overall and 12-6 in the OAC at the season's halfway mark, while John Carroll is now 11-9-1 overall and 8-8-1 in the OAC.
Sophomore Ryan Rieber tossed eight innings allowing just two run and striking out 10 leading DeSales University to a DH split with Wilkes University in MAC Freedom action on Saturday afternoon. Wilkes wion game one 7-4 and Desales won the second 4-2. Trailing 8-0 in the fifth inning the Bulldogs cut the margin in half with four runs in the bottom of the inning on two hits. Wilkes got a ninth run in the top of the seventh and DSU went quietly in the final two innings. Rieber was outstanding in game two tossing eight strong innings allowing just three hits and two runs, striking out 10 to improve to 4-1 on the year. Freshman Brandon Laino earned his first career save tossing a perfect ninth inning.
Elmira College traveled to Auburn, New York, to take on St. Lawrence University at Falcon Park, home of the former minor league Auburn Doubledays, where the Saints secured a pair of 14-10 and 6-1 wins. The Saints (6-6) blew the game open in the second and third innings with a combined 13 runs. As it turned out, they would need all of those runs to hold off a late comeback attempt by the Soaring Eagles (3-17). Despite outhitting St. Lawrence 9-to-6, the Soaring Eagles only manufactured one run in the nightcap. Starter Jack Sylvia led the way for the Saints with the best outing of his collegiate career. The second-year righty scattered seven hits and four walks across 6.0 innings and led all pitchers in the contest with seven strikeouts.
With stellar performances from Nick DeFeo and Nolan Graber, Ursinus College earned its first sweep of the season at Dickinson on Saturday. DeFeo and Graber gave up a combined two runs on 10 hits and struck out nine in 5-1 and 2-1 wins. In game one, it was DeFeo who owned the mound. The senior pitched seven innings, giving up just four hits to the Devil bats. In the second side of the doubleheader it was fellow senior, Graber, who allowed one run in six innings.
The Texas Lutheran Bulldogs hit five combined home runs Saturday in 7-5 and 13-7 conference victories over the Southwestern Pirates. The Bulldogs sit atop the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference with a 10-1 league mark. The Bulldogs are 19-8 overall. Southwestern fell to 14-14 overall and to 9-5 in the SCAC. TLU's Cullen Motsinger and Tyler Cauley hit home runs in the first game of the doubleheader, and Tyler Post (twice) and Joe Jimenez left the yard in the late game.
Penn State Altoona snapped its six-game losing streak on Saturday with a dominant sweep of Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Pitt-Bradford at Stewart Athletic Field. Penn State Altoona (6-12, 4-6 AMCC) took care of business with a 6-1 win in game one, then overpowered Pitt-Bradford (3-9, 2-8 AMCC) by a 17-7 margin in game two. Catcher Cumming had another banner day for the Lions in game two, setting a new program single game record for the most total bases with 13. He also tied the team's single game record for home runs – a mark he established himself on April 3 – with three homers in the second game of the twinbill.
The red-hot bat of Jay Cassady headlined the day with eight runs batted in and a pair of two-run home runs during a couple of Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference wins as Christopher Newport swept a doubleheader against Mary Washington Saturday afternoon. The Captains scored 28 runs in the twin bill while improving to 13-7 overall and 6-3 in C2C action. Cassady launched two home runs in game one, both with a runner on, and then posted another extremely productive day in game two. The freshman first baseman contributed at the plate and in the field including a stellar over the wall grab in foul territory to end a Mary Washington threat. No one in the Captains lineup has been hotter than Cassady this week, who ran his hit streak to seven while logging three straight multi-hit performances and 11 RBI, 3 HR and 6 runs scored in the last 24 hours.
Rochester Tech earned a doubleheader split with visiting Union, Saturday. The Tigers fell, 6-1, in the opener before making up a 4-1 deficit with five runs over the final three innings, including a two-out, walk-off hit by Ian Libby in the bottom of the ninth, for a 6-5 victory in game-two. Union broke a scoreless tie with three runs in the third on game one before plating two more in the fourth and another in the fifth. Randy Dodig led off the bottom of the ninth with walk and stole second before advancing to third on a long fly-out to right field by Chris Reilly. Libby smacked a two-out hit off the base of the centerfield wall to bring home Dodig for the deciding run.
Covenant came back from behind in game two against Huntingdon to earn a split in Saturday afternoon's doubleheader. The Scots fell in game one 11-3 and took game two 6-5. Covenant connected on 19 total hits across the two contests and improves to 17-9 overall. The visiting Hawks tallied 17 hits and nine RBIs in game one to gain the 11-3 victory over the Scots. Covenant used a three-run eighth inning to overcome a two-run deficit to get the win in game two.
Allegheny split a pair of road North Coast Athletic Conference matchups with Hiram on Saturday. The Gators dropped the first game, 4-2, and rallied to take the second game, 9-4. After 11 games, Allegheny's record sits at 7-4 overall and 4-4 in NCAC competition. During the first game, Tyler Hettich and Ben Kosbie drove in the Gator runs. In game two, Allegheny scored four runs in the first inning and three runs in sixth en route to a 9-4 win. Luke Chutko and Seth Reisman powered the Allegheny offense with two RBIs each. Dalton DuBois recorded an RBI on a sacrifice fly and Isaiah Lucas drove in a run by virtue of a single through the left side. Chutko also notched a team-best 2-for-4 at the plate during the night cap.
Kaleb Stines pitched a complete game in game two to give Wilmington College a twinbill split with Ohio Northern University at Tewksbury-Delaney Field on Saturday. The Polar Bears took game one 13-1 in eight innings while the Fightin' Quakers won game two 8-6. Stines went the distance to earn his first win of the season, striking out six while allowing six earned runs on 10 hits. Hayden Hache, who relieved starter Tim Knap Schaefer in the fourth inning, allowed two earned runs in 3.2 innings for his first loss of the season. In the opener, Logan Stevens hit a 3-run home run to key a 4-run first inning as ONU got off to a quick start in game one. That was all they needed as Nate Bye struck out five and allowed only one earned run in 6.2 innings of work to pick up the win.Senior Devin Johnson worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the bottom of the seventh then cruised in the eighth to pick up his third save of the season.
Senior captain Nick Grohowski enjoyed a career day with seven hits and seven RBIs, including three hits and three RBIs in game one, and four hits and four RBIs in game two, to lead Hampden-Sydney College to an Old Dominion Athletic Conference doubleheader sweep past Emory & Henry College on Saturday on Yank Bernier Field at the Ty Cobb Ballpark – Wurdeman Stadium. Sophomore captain Ryan Boyce added two RBIs in the 8-6 opener that saw junior Trenton Tiller gain the pitching win against the visiting Wasps (4-12, 3-12), while classmate Trey Karnes added two hits and two RBIs in the 10-2 nightcap that witnessed sophomore Justin Woodall earn the mound win for the host Tigers (14-9, 9-7), who have won five-straight and eight of their last nine games overall.
Caden Mathewson with a three-run triple in the seventh to help send Buena Vista to a 4-1 victory in game one at Wartburg on Saturday afternoon before the Knights took came two 13-3 (8 inn.) to earn the doubleheader split. In a 1-1 game in the seventh inning, BVU loaded the bases with no outs before Mathewson, who finished 2-for-3, connected for his second career triple and registered his first career 3-RBI game. He's now driven in seven runs over the last four games. Although Buena Vista took an early lead in game two, the Knights then took control with four runs in the bottom half to make it 7-2 before adding five runs in the eighth to end the contest.
Andrew Michalski's two-out RBI infield single capped a three-run rally in the bottom of the sixth inning as Cortland defeated visiting New Paltz, 4-3, in the seven-inning contest of a SUNYAC Eastern division doubleheader. Cortland also won the opening game, 17-1, behind a 22-hit effort along with five scoreless innings from Zack Durant.
Two home runs and two walks were the story of the day for Muhlenberg. The Mules (5-4, 4-4) split a pair of one-run games at home with McDaniel, nearly coming all the way back from a 6-0 deficit before dropping the first game, 8-7, and scoring twice in their last at-bat to take the nightcap, 6-5. Senior Justin Kimmel homered in consecutive at-bats for Muhlenberg, hitting a two-run blast in the ninth inning of Game 1 and a solo shot in the first inning of Game 2. It's the 13th time in program history that a Mule has gone yard in both ends of a doubleheader. Kimmel is the first to do it since 2014. Behind Kimmel's second home run and a strong outing from senior Paul Poppert, who fanned a career-high 11, the Mules led 4-2 going into the eighth inning. But the Green Terror (2-8, 2-8) scored three times in the top of the eighth on a two-run homer and a double steal to take a 5-4 lead. In game two, BW scored 11 runs on 12 hits as it plated two runs in the second, one in the third, two in the sixth on the home run by Taw and erupted for six in the ninth. Marietta scored seven runs on 10 hits as it pushed two runs across the plate in the second, one in the third, one in the fourth, two in the sixth and one in the eighth.
Keuka College bounced back after dropping the first game at Utica College to split with the Pioneers in an Empire 8 doubleheader on Saturday. Utica College took the opening game against Keuka College (3-6, 3-6 Empire 8) 11-3. The Green and Gold rebounded in the nightcap, defeating the host Pioneers 10-5. The Pioneers took the early lead over the Wolves with a run in the bottom of the first. They would add to it with three in the second, one in the third, and five in the fourth to take a 10-0 lead which was enough offense to win on Saturday. Keuka got production from the catching spot in game two. Dylan Richards started and went 2-3 with a triple, two RBI, and two runs scored. RJ Murphy entered later in the game and hit a double in his only at-bat and scored.

Senior right fielder Andrew Ollwerher went 6-for-10 with a pair of doubles and four RBI as Montclair State swept past Rutgers-Camden in an NJAC doubleheader at Yogi Berra Stadium on Saturday. Miles Feaster hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth as the Red Hawks (14-4, 6-3 NJAC) won the opener 6-5. Ollwerther was 5-for-6 with three RBI in the nightcap leading MSU to a 14-3 win, Montclair's fourth straight triumph.
Marymount University continued its winning ways on Saturday afternoon, as the Saints wrapped up a weekend series against Neumann with wins in both games of an Atlantic East Conference doubleheader. Marymount (13-3, 11-1 AEC) used a seventh-inning comeback to upend the Knights (5-7, 2-7 AEC) in the opening game of Saturday's twinbill. The team's traded runs throughout the contest, but the home side carried a 5-4 lead into the final frame after a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning. After the late-game heroics in the opening contest, Marymount used an eight-run fourth inning to seal an 11-8 victory over Neumann in the second game.
La Roche University (8-0, 8-0) defeated conference foe Penn St. Behrend (12-5, 5-3) in two games Saturday afternoon at the John Arnold Sr. Memorial Field on La Roche's campus. The Redhawks took game one 2-1 and game two 6-4. LRU is off to their first 8-0 start in confernece play since 2017. The first game of the afternoon was a pitching battle between AMCC Preseason Pitcher of the Year junior Thomas Zbezinski and junior Zack Oddi. Both Zbezinski and Oddi went the distance and pitched complete games. Zbezinski was 3-0 this season heading into game one. Oddi pitched all 7.0 innings, giving up just five hits and one earned run. The LRU defense made some great plays in the field and committed zero errors. At the plate, the Redhawks batted 4-22 (.182) and Behrend went 5-23 (.217). Junior Jackson Rogers picked up his first collegiate win on the mound for LRU. Rogers came into the game in the bottom of the sixth when the Redhawks were down 4-3. In 3.0 innings, Rogers allowed just three, no earned runs and struckout a batter. Starting pitcher Shawn Marcellus went 5.0 innings and had five strikeouts, five walks and four earned runs. Senior Mike Nuzzo came in to close out the game in the final inning. Nuzzo struckout the final batter of the day to get his second career save in a Redhawks uniform.
WPI came from behind in the late innings twice on Saturday as the Engineers secured a sweep of Emerson in NEWMAC action at the New England Baseball Complex. The Engineers scored six runs in the bottom of the eighth in game one and held on for an 8-7 win, and then scored twice in the eighth of game two to take a 4-3 victory. With the sweep, WPI has now won four straight contests and improve to 6-4 on the season and 4-4 in conference action. The Lions slip to 1-5 overall and 1-5 in the NEWMAC.
Senior Evan Maday, known for his speedster ways on the base paths, used his power to club one home run in Game 1 and two homers in a Game 2 on Saturday. Those last two round-trippers – and a huge 10-run inning in the day's second game – helped lift the Hope College baseball team to a doubleheader split at Alma College. The Flying Dutchmen defeated the Scots 17-6 in the nightcap but lost to Alma, 10-4, in the first game of the day. Hope also had split results with Alma on Friday at Boeve Stadium, and the weekend results now give the Flying Dutchmen a 4-7 MIAA mark and an 11-12 overall record. Maday is Hope's career leader in stolen bases with 71, accomplished in just three seasons since the 2020 season was cancelled due to the pandemic. He is also currently ranked first in NCAA Division III in steals this season with 25.
Husson displayed timely hitting and solid pitching on Saturday, as the Eagles swept Northern Vermont University-Lyndon, 3-1 and 3-2, in a doubleheader on the Alfond Diamond, extending their winning streak to eight games. Cam Graham (2-1) got the win in his third start of the year for the Eagles. He pitched five and one-third innings, giving up a run on three hits, while striking out seven. Jake Gregoire came on to record the final five outs while earning his first career save. Logan Sheridan made his first start of the year for Husson, and pitched two scoreless innings. He allowed two hits and walked two. Sheridan was replaced by freshman Jackson Thayer to start the third inning. The appearance was Thayer's third of the season. He gave up a run without allowing a hit, on one walk with two strikeouts. In the fifth, Jesse Colford came on, making his sixth appearance of the year. Colford (1-1) picked up his first win of the season, giving up a run on five hits and three walks in three innings of work.
Saint John's (Minn.) powered to a much-needed doubleheader sweep of Augsburg, 16-1 and 9-0, on Saturday, at Parade Stadium in Minneapolis. The Johnnies (14-8, 4-7 MIAC) batted .392 (29-for-74) on the day with nine extra-base hits (six doubles and three triples), while three pitchers combined for one earned run allowed in 16 innings. Augsburg (4-16, 2-10 MIAC) entered the doubleheader with a MIAC-low .259 slugging percentage and put a run on the scoreboard first thanks to back-to-back, two-out doubles in the bottom of the first inning off junior Nathan Brandecker. SJU went on to score 25 unanswered runs in the twinbill.
