Taking both games of the doubleheader against Wheaton (Ill.) on Saturday, North Central completed the four-game season sweep of the Thunder with wins of 11-10 and 8-4 on a blistery afternoon at Zimmerman Stadium. The opener was a shootout from the start. Heading to the bottom of the eighth with the score still tied 10-10, Rob Marinec singled to left to lead off the inning, before advancing to second on a sacrifice bunt off the bat of Rios. After a groundout to advance Marinec to third, Jared Wojcik drew a two-out walk to put runners on first and third with two outs. The Cardinals then got creative on the base paths, as Wojcik took off for second and Marinec sprinted for home on the subsequent throw down to second, diving in head first just ahead of the throw back home to score what proved to be the game-winning run. In the nightcap, it was North Central opening the scoring and leading wire-to-wire.

Texas Lutheran swept a road doubleheader Saturday from No. 20 Centenary College with 14-4 and 8-4 wins at the Gents' Shehee Stadium. TLU goes into next weekend's Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship with an overall record of 25-11 and a final conference regular-season mark of 15-3. The Bulldogs are a few percentage points behind Trinity for the top spot (and regular-season title) in the SCAC standings. TLU could still secure the top seed in the conference tournament. Trinity plays a conference doubleheader at Southwestern on Sunday. The first game of TU-SU series was cancelled due to weather. TLU can do no worse than the No. 2 seed for the tournament. Southwestern and Centenary are in a battle for the No. 3 seed, but all four schools (TLU, Trinity, Southwestern, and Centenary) have already secured spots in the conference tournament.

No. 23 William Paterson (23-6, 14-4 NJAC) secured the second seed for the upcoming New Jersey Athletic Conference Tournament with a Senior Day sweep of Stockton (9-13, 7-11 NJAC), 15-5 and 10-1. Senior righty starter Josh Vincent pitched six shutout innings in the opener and sophomore righty Nathan Furino pitched 4 2/3 shutout innings in relief in the second game as Eastern Connecticut State University moved within a victory of clinching at least a share of its 13th Little East Conference regular-season title with 10-0, 8-2 victories over Castleton University Saturday afternoon at the Eastern Baseball Stadium. Ranked first in New England and 21st nationally, Eastern (24-4, 12-1 LEC) capitalized on seven Castleton (9-15, 6-8 LEC) errors to score six unearned runs in the seven-inning, first-game win and the Warriors scored three runs in the sixth and three more in the seventh to overcome an early 2-1 deficit in the second game. With three LEC regular-season games remaining, Eastern holds a three-game game lead over Rhode Island College and holds the tie-breaker over the Anchormen by virtue of a 5-0, 12-2 home sweep of the Anchormen three weeks ago. In 24 years, Eastern has won or shared 12 LEC regular-season titles. By winning this year's LEC regular-season title under third-year head coach Brian Hamm, the Warriors would have won their last three championships under three different head coaches.

Sophomore third baseman Dean Brown hammered an 0-2 pitch for a walk-off three-run homer to lift the 25th-ranked College of Wooster to a 5-2 win over Allegheny College on "senior recognition day" on Saturday afternoon at Art Murray Field. Wooster rolled to an 11-5 win in game two. The winning run was just 90 feet from the dish when Brown stepped into the box, as Wooster (20-6) junior catcher Alex Gasper roped a one-out double down the left field line, then moved up 90 feet on an Allegheny (12-9) passed ball. The Gators elected to intentionally walk senior second baseman Gabe Sherman to put a potential double play on the table, but Brown took matters into his own hands for the walk-off. Wooster chased starter Nolan Thompson after just two-thirds of an inning in game two. When the Gators drew within a run, the Scots scored five to salt the game away.
