Westfield State first-year outfielder Alex Martin laced a walk-off sacrifice fly to left field to cap off a two-run ninth inning rally in a 2-1 victory over Fitchburg State in the MASCAC season opener from Hagan Field in Westfield, Mass. on Friday afternoon. Martin stepped up to the plate in a tie game with one out and runners on second and third. With two strikes in the count, Martin launched an opposite-field fly ball to left field, which forced the left fielder to retreat backwards before making the grab, allowing for Nolan Florence to score easily to secure the walk off win. The Owls offense was virtually shut down through the first eight innings of the game with Falcons' starter Orion Daily tossing a no-hitter entering the final frame of the contest.

St. Joseph's (L.I.) split a pair of Skyline Conference contests with Farmingdale State at Gregg Alfano Field on Friday afternoon, falling in the opener 6-0 but winning 7-4 in the nightcap. Johnny Dougherty (W, 2-1) tossed the complete game shutout in game one, allowing just four hits and striking out 11 batters in the seven-inning contest. The 11 strikeouts is tied for seventh all-time in a single game in program history. Senior Nick Vicino went 3-for-3 with two doubles knocking in two runs while scoring one in leading the Golden Eagles to a split on the day.

William Paterson (11-5) scored seven times combined during its last two at-bats for an 11-6 victory March 31 against visiting SUNY Cobleskill (4-9). Carson Weis finished 3-for-5 with two doubles, a home run, five RBI and two runs scored. Steve Yelin went 3-for-4 and posted a double, two RBI and three runs, and Colin Lombardo finished 2-for-2 while stealing three bases and scoring four times. Sophomore starter Matt Lemieux surrendered three runs on four hits and four walks, striking out two during 6.0 innings of action (2-0). Classmate Pat Pantoliano tossed 2.0 innings and gave up three runs, four hits and a walk, posting three strikeouts. Freshman Chris Quartuccio pitched a scoreless ninth, walking one batter.

Julian Sanders had a bases-clearing double with two outs in the ninth and Paul Roche followed with a two-run homer, as No. 24 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps avoided an upset with a 9-5 comeback win at Whittier on Friday afternoon. Bryce Didrickson had a two-out, two-run single in the top of the eighth to tie the score 4-4 for CMS, before Maximus Berber homered for Whittier in the bottom half to set the table for the late comeback.

Immaculata took both games, 10-5 and 9-1, in their doubleheader with Gwynedd Mercy to open up Atlantic East Conference play. Junior pitcher Jason Hughes was dominant on the mound, going six innings of shutout baseball. On the day, he racked up 12 strikeouts and only allowing 3 hits. Through the first three innings of work he did not allow a single hit. Senior Ryan Crowell was electric on the mound, allowing a single run in the first inning but shutting down the Griffins offense after that. He would go on to throw a complete game, going seven innings while only allowing five hits on the evening. Crowell would strikeout seven.

Sophomore Jordan Silvestri led Cabrini to its fourth win in a row Friday afternoon as the right-hander went 6.2 shutout innings to blank Marywood 5-0 and remain unbeaten in Atlantic East Conference play. On the day, Silvestri scattered four hits over his 6 and 2/3 scoreless innings with four punch outs. Marotta earned his first save of the year as the junior only allowed two hits and struck out three, with two in the top of the ninth. Colton Narciso went 3-for-4 with two doubles and a single as the junior shortstop extended his hit streak to six games.

Nathan Herron and Dawson Albin each blasted two-run home runs to propel Belhaven to an 8-4 win over Covenant on Friday night at Charlie Donald Field. The Blazers (15-9, 7-0 CCS) have now won 12-straight and remain perfect in CCS action with a 7-0 record. The Blazers got the bats going early as Caleb Whittle recorded the first Belhaven hit of the game with a double in the bottom of the 1st. After advancing to third on a wild pitch, Whittle scored the game's first run on a sacrifice fly from Dawson Albin. The Blazers used the long ball as Dawson Albin followed a Caleb Whittle leadoff double with a no-doubt home run to left in the bottom of the 7th. It was the senior shortstop's first of the 2023 season. Hunter Estes came around to score on a passed ball a couple of batters later to extend the lead to 8-1. The Scots clawed back in the 8th with three runs on three hits and an error, but Will Swift closed the door in the 9th by retiring the Covenant hitters in order to give Belhaven the 8-4 victory.

No. 24 Trinity (Texas) took the first of this weekend's three-game Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference series over Centenary (La.) 7-2, Friday night at the TU Baseball Field. The Tigers (14-9; 5-2 SCAC) saw all but one in the lineup collect a base hit, led by a three-for-five outing from junior designated hitter Cristian Holloway and a two-for-three day with a pair of walks from sophomore first baseman Brandon Nelson, both of whom collected a solo home run in the contest. Junior righthander Joseph Chavana—the day's eventual winning pitcher—remained Trinity's day-one starter to open the weekend series—the role he has filled in every series thus far in 2023—and continued to produce as he left just one runner on base through four innings through one hit, using a double-play to erase a first-inning walk.

Visiting Bridgewater State opened MASCAC play with an
11-3 victory over MCLA on Friday in Springfield. The game
was played at Archie Allen Field on the campus of Springfield
College. Bridgewater State is now 61-39 versus MCLA since
1972. The Bears are also 39-10 versus the Trailblazers since
the turn of the century including a 15-4 mark on the road.

Keystone opened up CSAC play with a convincing 38-3 win over Clarks Summit at Schautz Stadium in Dunmore on Friday afternoon. Keystone tallied 24 hits in the victory, including six homers from Justin Mann, Griffin Yastremski, Josh Park, Julio Acosta, Greg Verano and Ethan Statham. Verano finished the day 5-for-6 with six RBI and five runs scored, including a two-run inside-the-park homer in the fifth. Statham launched a grand slam in the ninth for his first career hit. The Giants scored six or more runs in four different innings. Jordan Art earned the win, tossing five innings with six strikeouts, allowing just two hits and one walk. Tyler Mullen tossed three innings in relief with five punchouts while Kade Compeau finished the contest.

Hardin-Simmons opened its American Southwest Conference series at Howard Payne with a 16-4 win on Friday afternoon at Don Shepard Park in Brownwood. The Cowboys had 18 hits in the game and had two five-run innings and a four-run inning. Gannon Azios had a big day for the Cowboys. He went 4-for-4 with four RBIs and three runs scored. He also walked two times, reaching base in all six plate appearances. Seltzer and Buchkowski each had three hits for HSU. Caidon Livingston was solid on the mound, going six innings allowing just one run on four hits. He improved to 6-2 on the year. Jacob Posey worked two innings and Brandon Girod tossed a 1-2-3 ninth. Seth Bowman led the Jackets with three hits. Brendan Reed, the first of five HPU pitchers, took the loss. He allowed seven runs on 11 hits in four innings to fall to 1-4 on the year.

Shane Stossel hit three-run home runs in back-to-back innings and finished with eight RBI to lead Lebanon Valley to a 15-7 victory at Albright on Friday afternoon in the series opener. The Lions (3-16, 1-10 MAC Commonwealth) got off to a strong start with four first inning runs to take the early lead. LVC (11-10-1, 7-1, MAC Commonwealth) responded with 10 consecutive runs over the next six innings with the first Stossel home run the big hit. Stossel was 2-3 with a walk at the plate and scored three runs. His eight RBI are two shy of the program record. The junior recorded his second career multi-homer game. Andrew Miles also had a huge day at the plate with three hits in five at-bats. He scored two runs and knocked in one. Tony Bennage pitched six strong innings of relief to earn his second win of the season. He struck out two and allowed just one run on three hits. The Dutchmen have won the last seven meetings with Albright and have scored over 10 runs in every game but one.

A big offensive performance lifted Purchase Friday afternoon, as the Panthers cruised past Yeshiva, 14-3, in the team's Skyline Conference home opener. The Panthers finished with 14 runs on 17 hits on the day, despite a scoreless first inning. In the second, the hosts totaled five runs on six hits, as Frank Rega's RBI-single got things started. From there, the hosts proceeded to score at least one run in each of the next four innings to roll to the victory. For Yeshiva, the guests struggled at the plate as they were no-hit during the first five innings. However, the Macs managed to change that in the sixth by using a hit batter, an error and an RBI-single to score their first run of the day. On the mound, Brandon Reybok secured his second win of the season after he went 5 1/3 innings. In the performance, he allowed just one unearned on one hit and struck out eight. The two teams entered the day set to play two games, but game two was canceled after a Yeshiva player became ill and the squad only had eight guys remaining.

Evan Wood threw eight scoreless innings as Alvernia (15-7, 9-2) shutout Hood (11-10, 4-3) 3-0, in a MAC Commonwealth matchup Friday afternoon at Hood. Alvernia put up runs in the first, fifth and seventh innings enroute to the 3-0 victory. Shayne Ostrowsky came on in relief for the Golden Wolves and shut down the Blazers in the ninth to secure the 3-0 shutout win. Wood got the win on the mound and improves to 4-0, going eight scoreless innings, striking out four and allowing seven hits. Ostrowsky came on in the ninth and is credited with the save. Thomas Faggioni led the Golden Wolves with three hits, two runs scored and a double, Connor Friedel tallied two hits, including a double.

The Worcester State Lancers (4-10) took on the Salem State Vikings (2-11) for the first MASCAC conference game and their first home game of the season. The Lancers won the opener 6-3 behind the pitching of Ben Smith. Smith would give a quality start for his team going seven innings with four strikeouts while giving up 2 earned runs. He would be matched up against the Salem State Vikings starter sophomore Bobby Jellison who picked up the loss this evening going six innings with three earned runs. It would also be a testy ninth inning for Worcester with an error at third base causing a run to be scored by freshman Aidan Lynch to cut the lead to 6-3. Jared Kapurch would come in from the bullpen and lock down the Lancer's first MASCAC matchup of the season.

Zach Lafata hit a two-run homer, Chris Torres pitched 5.2 innings, and Cal Lutheran defeated Occidental 9-3 to kick off their series on Friday afternoon. Torres got the win as he pitched 5.2 innings for the Kingsmen. He struck out four, giving up eight hits and just three earned runs. The Cal Lutheran bullpen held the Tigers silent as Clay Rickerman, Bryan Tierney, and Dean Olsson all saw action. Rickerman pitched 1.2 innings and only gave up one hit. Bryan Tierney pitched 0.2 innings and recorded a strikeout. Olsson finished the game with 1.0 inning and two strikeouts. The offense came from all over the lineup. Sebastian Smith had three RBI, Brendan Durfee and Lafata had two RBI each and Sean Blandino and Josh Quinn had one each. Blandino led the way with four hits. Quinn had three, and Max Heverly, Kyle Reuser, Durfee, and Lafata had two each. Durfee and Reuser both had a triple.

Penn State Abington played longball at Lancaster Bible as the Nittany Lions launched 11 home runs in a doubleheader sweep against the Chargers in United East Conference action on Friday afternoon at the LBC Baseball Field. The Nittany Lions won game one by the score of 9-6 and took game two with a 19-8 triumph. Abington jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning thanks to a pair of home runs and this would be the theme for the day. Zach Morales finished the game 2-for-4 with two runs and five RBI. His two home runs resulted in his second career multi home run game. After hitting five home runs in the opener, the Nittany Lions did one batter in the night cap, connecting on six home runs. The 11 combined home runs hit by Abington marked the most in a doubleheader since the Nittany Lions hit 10 in a doubleheader at Guilford to open the 2022 season. Three current players rank in the top-three in the program's all-time home run list. Morales is currently second with 17 career home runs, while Justin Fogel and Tim Petrucelli are tied for third with 16 career home runs each.

LeTourneau started off the road trip with a commanding 5-1 win over Mary Hardin-Baylor on Friday night. LeTourneau (13-13, 7-6 ASC) is now tied for fourth in the ASC as we near the halfway point of the conference schedule. LeTourneau opened the game up in the top of the seventh where the Jackets scored three runs. Kyle Masonave added to the YellowJacket lead with a sacrafice fly for Devin Greaff to be able to score and put the final run up for the visitors. Riley Davis (4-1) marked the win for his 7.0 innings pitched. Davis allowed just six hits, one earned run, and marked four strikeouts. Cruz Cox closed out the game allowing just two hits for his 2.0 innings pitched.

Despite trailing late in both games, New York University rebounded to win both halves of its doubleheader against Brandeis University on Friday at cold and windy Maimonides Park in Brooklyn, NY. Playing their first University Athletic Association (UAA) home games of the season, the Violets came from behind in both to eek out a pair of victories, 6-5 and 7-6. "When we were down, we told our guys to just chip away and work deep counts," said Hitting Coach Tommy Cardona. "In game one of any series you want to get their starter out and get into their bullpen. We were able to do that, and even though we hit into some hard luck early we kept battling until the hits starting falling and we were also able to capitalize on some of their mistakes."

Carson Denham tossed 7.2 innings of two-run ball, allowing six hits with one walk and five strikeouts to lead Arcadia to a 9-2 victory at DeSales on Friday to open its MAC Freedom series. Justin Massielo led the offense with a 3-for-4 showing. Arcadia opened the scoring in the top of the third on an Emilio Pallante double down the left field line scoring Griffin Murphy. The Knights added three run in the fifth on four hits with Pallante, Anthony Bruno, and Trey Obarowski driving in runners. DeSales trimmed the lead with one run in the sixth. Arcadia blew the game open in the eighth with five runs, inclduing RBI's from Murphy, Alex Madera, Matt Donchez, and Matthew Sot. The Bulldogs finished the scoring with a run in the bottom of the eighth.
