Ratcliffe picked to lead Trine

ANGOLA, Ind. – Assistant Vice President for Athletics Matt Land has announced that Brett Ratcliffe will serve as the next head coach of the Trine University baseball program.

"Coach Ratcliffe knows the ins-and-outs of this program and was natural choice to take up the reins," said Land, "I expect that this will be a seamless transition as Coach Ratcliffe puts his mark on the program and takes us to new success."
 
Ratcliffe has served his second stint as an assistant coach with the program since 2020, after a previous tenure during the 2012 and 2013 seasons. That first stint saw the Thunder win 25 games each year, one of the winningest stretches in program history.
 
"I am honored and excited to be the next head coach of the Trine baseball," said Ratcliffe, "My previous experience combined with my time with the program as an assistant have prepared me to continue the pride and tradition at Thunder Baseball."
 
Ratcliffe has 20 years of experience in the high school coaching ranks. Two stints at Garrett winning the 2006 ACAC Conference championship and 2016 NECC Conference Tourney Championship.  He spent five years at DeKalb as the pitching and catching coach, where they were the 2010 NHC Co-Conference Champions.  His first stop was at Homestead, where he spent three seasons as the hitting and catching coach.
 
Ratcliffe has also been involved with USA Baseball both as a coach on the NABF National Team and as a scout and evaluator. In 2009, Ratcliffe was the pitching and catching coach for the USA 14U National Team that won gold at the Pan-Am games in Ecuador. Ratcliffe also worked with the 2010 team that took home the bronze at the Pan-Am games in Nicaragua.
