Oswego State came into the 2017 Division III World Series as the top seed. And on Saturday, the Lakers left the tournament as the first team eliminated. Concordia-Chicago eliminated Oswego State by a 9-4 margin, with Mass-Boston sending Wheaton (Mass.) home after a 3-2 defeat in the second bracket elimination game.

Washington & Jefferson guaranteed that it will play on Monday at the World Series, defeating Roanoke 11-1 behind seven two-hit innings from Riley Groves and a pair of long home runs in the fourth inning. Roanoke will battle Concordia-Chicago for the right to come back and try to get W&J one more time.

The only top team to make the winners bracket is Cal Lutheran, which improved to 2-0 with a 14-5 win vs. North Central (Ill.). North Central and Mass-Boston will square off on Sunday, weather permitting, with the winner getting another crack at Cal Lutheran, two cracks if necessary.

Yes, we said weather permitting. We're in for some rain in Appleton overnight. But that's alright. This is a place where they know to put the tarp down.
