Scouting report

  • Texas-Tyler has 74 wins over the last two seasons that head coach Brent Porche has led the Patriots, coming over from LSU-Alexandria, an NAIA program.
  • Speed is part of the Patriots' game as UTT is stealing an average of two bases per game, good for 24th in the nation, with an 80 percent success rate. The Patriots stole 12 bases in winning the Central Regional.
  • Simon Sedillo has had a breakout season as a senior for Tyler, after throwing just one inning as a junior transfer in 2017. He's been tough for opponents to run on this year, as they're successful less than 50 percent of the time. He also fields his position well, while the other two primary starters, Ryan Cheatham and Nate Imig, have combined for eight errors in 38 chances (.789 fielding percentage).
