Second-ranked LaGrange celebrated Senior Day with a sweep of Greensboro in a doubleheader Saturday at Cleaveland Field in Williamson Stadium. The Panthers hung on for a 12-10 win in the first game, then won 11-5 in the second game. On a day the Panther's honored their 15 seniors La Grange upped their season record to 38-4 and ran their winning streak to eight games. They broke the school season record of 36 wins set by the 2003 team.
No. 1 Shenandoah took over first place in the ODAC with a 4-1, 12-inning victory over No. 11 Randolph-Macon. The extra inning win for Shenandoah over the Yellow Jackets was the second in as many days. With the victory, Shenandoah is tied with Washington and Lee in the league standings. SU can clinch its fourth straight No. 1 seed in the ODAC Tournament with wins over W&L on Tuesday and Saturday over Virginia Wesleyan. Junior Nick Goode drove in the game-winning run with a single up the middle in the top of the 12thto score Abel Arocho from second base.
Oswego hit four home runs in the opening nine-inning game and scored five unanswered runs over the final two innings in the seven-inning nightcap and the nationally 14th-ranked Lakers swept fifth-ranked Cortland, 8-5 and 5-3, in a SUNYAC doubleheader. Oswego improved to 23-7 overall and leads the SUNYAC standings with a 12-2 mark. Cortland is 28-7 overall and 13-4 in the league. Cortland will host Oswego in a single game Sunday and needs a win to keep its hopes alive to win the SUNYAC regular-season title.
No. 23 ranked Mount Union split a pair of games with Otterbein at 23rd Street Field in Alliance. Mount Union rallied to win the first game 5-4 with its seventh last at-bat win of the season then dropped game two 6-2. In the opener, Phil Mary worked a 1-2-3 ninth for his first save of the season in relief of Mitch McCristall, who battled for 8.0 innings to get the win. In game two, Stevie Yuran, Collin Hoffmann and Caleb Norton combined to hold the Mount Union lineup to just seven hits in win for the Cardinals.
No. 3 ranked UW-Whitewater suffered its first conference loss but recovered for a victory to earn a split at UW-Stevens Point in a WIAC doubleheader. The Warhawks were edged 4-3 in the opener before posting a 6-1 victory in the second game of the day. nIn the nightcap, the Warhawks tallied 14 hits, including three home runs, and took the lead for good with two runs in the top of the third inning, when sophomore designated hitter Kevin White tagged a two-run homer, his third of the season.
Junior catcher Christian Vargas bounced a single to the left side that scored sophomore Zack Smith from second base for the game-winning run in a 5-4 walk-off victory for Salve Regina against Eastern Nazarene. The Seahawks swept the Commonwealth Coast Conference doubleheader with the Lions, 7-1 and 5-4. Game one starter Patrick Maybach pitched six shutout innings to record his fifth victory (5-0) and struck out seven while lowering his earned run average (0.55). Vargas' basehit made a winner out of senior righty Cory Poplawski who pitched a complete game to raise his record to 4-2.
No. 4 Birmingham-Southern swept Sewanee, 4-2 and 3-0, in its SAA doubleheader to improve to 31-6 overall, 18-2 in conference play. This is the fourth consecutive year the Panthers have had 30+ win seasons, and the seventh under Head Coach Jan Weisberg. Four Panthers finished with three-hit days, led by A.J. Hunt who went 3-for-7, including a double, with three runs and an RBI.

Cody Brown and Cason Adams were dominant on the mound and Gunnar Quick was unstoppable at the plate as the No. 6 Texas-Tyler rolled to a 12-1 and 4-2 Senior Day doubleheader sweep of McMurry at Irwin Field. Cody Brown (6-2) earned the win in the opener with 11 strikeouts to match a season-best. Adams (7-0) stayed perfect on the season by limiting the War Hawks to two runs and six hits over seven innings of work.
Senior pitcher Speros Varinos won for the seventh time in seven starts this season and junior 3B Tommy O'Hara had four hits including a home run and four rbis in the doubleheader as No. 8 Tufts swept Bowdoin in NESCAC East action at Huskins Field 6-1 (seven innings) and 6-5. At 6-2 in the NESCAC East, Tufts can clinch a NESCAC Tournament berth tomorrow when the teams meet again at Huskins Field for a single game at noon. Bowdoin, led today by senior Evann Dumont-LaPointe's three hits and two rbis, dropped to 11-14 overall and 3-5 in NESCAC East.
No 15 Texas-Dallas and the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor were locked in a pitcher's duel in game one wone by the Cru 2-1. In the late game a late-inning UMHB rally fall short in a slugfest as the Comets salvaged a split with a 16-7 victory.
La Roche earned their sixteenth straight win and improved to 12-0 in the AMCC after sweeping D'Youville on Saturday. The Redhawks tossed a combined one hitter in game two. Ethan Lewis, Justin Johnson and Jesse Savisky combined to allow just one hit in the 13-0 win in the twin bill finale. The Redhawks wone game one 10-3.
Nationally-ranked St. John Fisher matched the program record for the longest winning streak in team history as the No. 18 Cardinals took both ends of an Empire 8 doubleheader against Houghton, 14-3, 17-7, at the Kerr Pegula Athletic Complex.
No. 19 Washington & Jefferson scored 10 runs in the sixth inning of the first game, and 12 unanswered runs in the second game to push past Geneva, 13-1 and 12-0 in Presidents' Athletic Conference action. The sweep pushes the Presidents' record to 23-7, with a 16-2 conference showing.
On a scorching day in Pasadena, No. 22 Cal Lutheran took care of business with a doubleheader sweep over Caltech. In game one, the Kingsmen racked up 16 hits in a 12-5 win while concluding the day with an 8-0 shutout to clinch the series sweep.
No. 24 Saint Joseph's (Maine) and Suffolk split a GNAC doubleheader at Larry Mahaney Diamond. The Monks opened with a 4-2 victory and the Rams salvaged a split with a 2-1 nightcap triumph. Saint Joseph's game one starter Travis Godbout gave up two runs on six hits and a walk with four K's in five innings before giving way to classmate Josh Partridge, who allowed a hit and a walk with three punch-outs in two frames to earn his sixth win of the season. Suffolk senior Chuck Gibson stayed unbeaten, allowing a run off five hits and three walks with five strikeouts in a complete-game performance.
No. 25 Emory closed out its 2017 regular season with two victories against New York University at Chappell Park in Atlanta. With the pair of wins, the Eagles won eight of their final nine games down the stretch to finish 27-12 overall. Emory now awaits word on their tournament fate and whether it will receive a Pool B at-large bid. The NCAA Division III tournament field will be announced on Sunday, May 14th. The Eagles attacked NYU pitching on Saturday, collecting double-digit hit totals in both contests as Emory were 9-1 and 12-6 victors. Prior to first pitch of game one, the Eagles recognized its nine-member senior class of Andrew Doetsch, Luke Emmett, Brian Hernandez, Philip Maldari, Kyle Monk, Wilson Morgan, Jeff Ronpirin, Jackson Weeg and Chris Young with a special on-field ceremony.
