Scouting report

  • Johns Hopkins has been one of the best power hitting teams in the country as the Blue Jays lead Division III with 80 home runs this season. Johns Hopkins has hit a home run in 34 of 46 games this season including a seven-home run game against McDaniel on April 12. The 80 home runs ties a program mark set in 2010.
  • With the retirement of Wooster's Tim Pettorini, Johns Hopkins' headcoach Bob Babb is second among active head coaches in victories. Babb is just seven wins behind Methodist's Tom Austin with 1143 for his career.
  • The Blue Jays earned their bid to the NCAA playoffs after capturing the program's 11th Centennial Conference tournament title. JHU went a perfect 3-0 in the tournament, which was played at Babb Field, outscoring its opponents 33-6. In the title-clinching game, which the Blue Jays won 11-1 over Haverford.
  • "Our pitching strength is that we throw strikes. We have a lot of power throughout the lineup and a good mixture of lefties and righties. Defensively we are fairly sound" - Johns Hopkins head coach Bob Babb.
