JACKSON, Miss. - The Millsaps baseball team remained undefeated tonight, winning 8-7 thanks to a bases-loaded walk from the Choctaws.

Millsaps (5-0) got on the board first with a five-run third. Kevin Wall singled to lead off the inning. Then, the Choctaws (1-2) went on to walk Jeremy Aliff and Josh Ordeneaux and hit Jules Roussel to score the first run. Will Hawkins drove in Aliff with a deep single to center. With one out in the inning Jake Mills struck out looking at a misplayed ball by the MC catcher which allowed Oredeneaux to steal home for the third run. Wes Perkins finally cleared the bases with a two RBI double to end the scoring in the frame.

MC got one of the runs back in the fourth off a sacrifice fly from Jeremy Simmons that plated Mike Kerdock. After a quiet fifth from both teams the Choctaws struck again in the sixth with three to pull within one, 5-4. Trey Rountree got one back in the bottom half with his first home run of the year with a blast over the right field wall to push the Millsaps' lead back to two, 6-4.

Mississippi College hung another three runs in the top of the seventh to take their first lead of the night, 7-6, thanks to a lead-off home run from Mike Kerdock, one of four Choctaw hits in the inning. The Majors went through three pitchers before landing on Jake Mills who got Clay Crosswhite to strike out to end the inning.

The Majors tied the game in the bottom of the eighth thanks to a lead-off double from Will Hawkins. Drew Respess came in to pinch hit for Wes Perkins and hit a screamer of the mit of the Choctaw hurler that ricocheted across the infield, scoring Hawkins.

The Majors sent in Will Elmore to close out the game on the mound. The sophomore got a pop out to Tyler Collins behind home plate, a pop fly to Jeremy Aliff, and got Mike Kerdock to stare at strike three to retire the side. MC's closer, Daniel Cowart, was not as fortunate. Drew Leonard walked to lead off the inning and advanced to second following a ground out back to the mound. Another grounder sent him to third, but with two outs and everyone preparing for free baseball, Joules Roussel took his third ball to the body on the night followed by a Will Hawkins intentional walk that loaded the bases for Will Elmore. Elmore watched patently as four pitches sailed out of the zone to allow the winning run to waltz home. The Majors scored the winning run without a single hit.

The Choctaws stranded 18 base runners on the night and out-paced the Majors with 14 hits to Millsaps' 9. Millsaps left seven base runners on the game, including the three left standing after the final run scored in the ninth.

The Majors will now take the show on the road for a few weeks. Their first trip will take them down to Georgetown, Texas to face the Southwestern Pirates in a conference double header this Saturday followed by a single on Sunday. Game times are slated for 1:00 p.m. both days.
