CLINTON, MS - The Mississippi College baseball team salvaged the final game of the season series with Millsaps with a 9-8 win on Tuesday night at Frierson Field.  The game was called after six innings due to inclement weather in the area.

The Majors jumped out quickly with two runs in the first on an RBI single from Josh Ordeneaux.  Will Hawkins scored from third on the play, while Jake Mills came around from first after a throwing error by the Choctaws.

The first run scored would be the first earned run allowed by Choctaw starter Bo Craig on the season.  Craig struck out five over 3.0 innings pitched.

Senior Stuart Magee wasted no time getting the Choctaws on the scoreboard as he sent the first pitch by Millsaps starter Brandon Robinson over the right-center field wall for his sixth home run of the season.

MC grabbed the lead in the second after a sacrifice fly from Taylor Cloyd and an RBI single by Magee.

Sophomore Kyle Ladner extended the lead in the third inning with a two-run single that would be part of a four-run inning to give MC a 7-2 advantage.

With the rain starting to fall, Millsaps put up five runs in the fifth inning to tie the score at 7-7.  Wes Perkins stroked a two-out, RBI double to knot the game.

The Choctaws answered with a run in the fifth inning as junior J'Marcus Brooks scored on a throwing error by the Millsaps catcher after a wild pitch got away.

Millsaps tied the game again in the sixth after the Choctaws committed an error to allow Jules Roussel to score an unearned run.

Spencer Brunson scored the eventual game-winning run in the sixth inning on another wild pitch by the Majors.  Brunson finished the game 3-4 with two runs scored and improved his season batting average to .473.

Stephen Gates singled to open the seventh inning, but the rain picked up and forced the game to end with a 2-2 count on Perkins.

Junior Ian Underwood struck out two and allowed one unearned run over 1.1 innings to improve to 1-1 on the season.

John Pemberton took the loss for Millsaps, allowing two unearned runs over 4.0 innings.

Four Choctaws finished with multiple hits in the game, while Gates was the only Major to collect two hits.

The Choctaws will be back in action this weekend when they travel to Marshall, TX for a three-game series with East Texas Baptist.
