UW-W cleanup hitter Jeff Donovan (Wauwautosa/East) walked to lead off the second.  With one out Jared Fon (Germantown) and Travis Wessels (Tomah/Tomah) singled to load the bases.  Dylan Friend (Burlington) scored Donovan with a sacrifice fly, and Andrew Bauer (Hartland /Arrowhead) singled in Fon to put the Warhawks up 2-0.

The Saints cut the deficit in half in the third.  Jake Casareto singled to open the frame, Chad Peterson doubled, and Brian Marshik made it three straight hits to push across a run.

Friend's second home run of the season, leading off the bottom of the fifth for the Warhawks, ended the scoring.

Junior righthander Jack Larsen (Menomonee Falls/Menomonee Falls) picked up his first win of the season for UW-W, going the first three and two thirds, allowing four hits and the one run, walking two and striking out three.  Kyle Lee (Beaver Dam/Beaver Dam) pitched the rest of the way to pick up his first save.  Matt Lewis, 7-1, suffered his first loss of the year for the Saints despite giving up just five hits and two walks.  Fon, UW-W's third baseman, was the only player in the game with more than one hit, going 2x2.

game two box score
Donovan opened the second with a single, moved to second on a Brett Young sacrifice, and advanced to third on a wild pitch.  Fon picked him up with a single to put UW-W on the board, 1-0.

Freshman righthander Justin Mortensen (Hartland/Arrowhead) was on cruise control for UW-W, giving up just three hits through the first five innings.

With one out in the sixth, Joe Link doubled for CSS.  Kyle Moody singled through the right side, Link scored, and Moody took second when the throw went to the plate.  Matthew Roberts (Manitowoc /Roncalli) came in for Mortensen, and the second batter Roberts faced, Scott Greening, lined the ball off Roberts' arm for a single.  Eric Schmitz (Fond du Lac/Fond du Lac) had to replace Roberts, and the first batter he faced, David Vogelgesang singled in Moody -- the only hit Schmitz would give up in finishing the game.

UW-W put runners on first and third with one out in the seventh, and second and third with two outs, but Saints' sophomore righthander Kyle Jensen closed the door to even his record at 2-2 with the complete game effort.

Mortensen took the loss in his first decision of the year, giving up five hits and two walks with three strikeouts.  Jensen yielded seven hits and one walk while striking out three.  Moody led both teams with a 3x3 game, and Greening was 2x3 to account for five of Scholastica's seven hits.  Fon, 2x3, also led UW-W in game two.

UW-W will wrap up the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference regular season this week, hosting doubleheaders with UW-La Crosse at Prucha Field at Jim Miller Stadium.  Friday's doubleheader will begin at 1:00 and Saturday the games start at 12:00. UW-W will formally dedicate the baseball field in honor of former coach Jim Miller in a between games ceremony Saturday.  A tailgate will be hosted in the 'Hawks Nest along the first base line.
