LONGVIEW, TX - The Louisiana College baseball team got off to a disappointing start to their conference schedule, as they were shutout by LeTourneau 6-0 behind an outstanding pitching performance from the Yellow Jacket pitching staff.

The Wildcats would find themselves in an early 2-0 hole when LC sophomore starting pitcher Miles Holley, who made his first career start for LC on Friday night, gave up two runs in the bottom of the first inning on a Jared O'Neal two-RBI single to center field that scored Ryan Betram and Bryce Griffin, both of which were unearned runs.

The Yellow Jackets plated two more in the bottom of the fourth on a Sean Sellers sac fly and a Griffin RBI single to give LeTourneau a 4-0 lead.

Griffin would strike for a final time in the bottom of the sixth with a two-run single to center field off of Wildcat reliever Luke Pinkard to extend the Yellow Jacket lead to the eventual final score of 6-0.

Griffin would finish the night 4-for-5 at the plate with three RBI and a run scored. Bertram finished 3-for-4, while O'Neal and catcher Chris Daugherty both collected two hits a piece for the Yellow Jackets, who had 11 on the night.

LC catcher Kyle Feazell led the Wildcats offensively by going 2-for-3.

LeTourneau starting pitcher Curt Copeland was outstanding, keeping Wildcat hitters off-balanced all night and going seven innings while giving up five hits, no runs, and striking out four to move to 2-0 on the year.

Holley would take the loss for LC, tossing four inning while giving up seven hits and two earned runs.

The Wildcats drop to 1-3 on the year with an 0-1 record in ASC play while LeTourneau remains unbeaten with a 4-0 record, 1-0 in conference play.

The two teams will take the field again tomorrow in a doubleheader scheduled to start at noon in Longview, TX.
