Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State baseball team earned an 11-4 victory over Baruch College in a non-conference game this afternoon in Farmingdale, N.Y. The Rams trailed early, but used 19 hits to score 11 runs in the win.

After the Bearcats (8-13) jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, junior third baseman Mike Scarlato (Holbrook, N.Y.) got the Rams on the board in the bottom of the second with an RBI single down the left field line. Farmingdale State (13-8) tied the game on a Daniel Paccione (Commack, N.Y.) RBI single and took the lead on an Anthony Alvino (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) bases loaded walk. The Rams extended the advantage to 5-3 on a two out 2 RBI double down the right field line by junior right fielder Michael Marino (Franklin Square, N.Y.).

In the bottom of the third, freshman left fielder Richard Sullivan (Farmingdale, N.Y.) and sophomore first baseman Brendan Sullivan (Plainview, N.Y.) each recorded RBI singles to put Farmingdale State ahead 7-2.

The Rams outscored Baruch 4-2 over the final six innings to cap off the 11-4 non-conference victory.

Senior center fielder Edward Bergmann (East Meadow, N.Y.) was 4-for-5 at the plate with three runs scored, while Brendan Sullivan had three hits, a run scored and an RBI. Junior second baseman Tom Rydzewski (Franklin Square, N.Y.) was 2-for-4 with a pair of runs scored and Marino added three hits and three runs batted in.

Baruch was led by junior shortstop Nicholas Pomo-Roman (North Bellmore, N.Y.) who was 4-for-5 at the plate with two runs scored, while sophomore second baseman Matthew Ballone (West Babylon, N.Y.) had two hits, an RBI and scored two runs.

Freshman pitcher Daniel Tierney (Patchogue, N.Y.) improved to 2-2 on the season after allowing two runs and striking out seven in 5.2 innings of relief.

Farmingdale State next will face NYU-Poly in a Skyline doubleheader on Saturday, April 12th at noon. The game will be played at Farmingdale State; however, the Rams will be the visiting team.
