Millikin Down's St. Joseph's-Long Island

          The Millikin baseball team improved to 2-0 on the season with a 10-4 win over St. Joseph's College-Long Island on March 11 in Fort Myers, Florida.

          Millikin picked up solo runs in each of the first two innings taking advantage of two St. Joseph's error.  Millikin used its speed on the bases in each inning with stolen bases setting up the run scoring opportunities.  Brian Ekiss drove home Keith Askins in the first inning with a single.  Freshman Hunter Wenstrom's run scoring ground out drove home Seth Coffey in the second inning.

          The Big Blue scored three runs in the third again capitalizing on St. Joseph's miscues.  Coffey, Kaleb Krigbaum had RBIs in the inning.

          Krigbaum scored on a wild pitch in the sixth to make it a 6-2 Millikin advantage.

          After St. Joseph's scored two runs in the top of the seventh, the Big Blue answered with three runs in the bottom of the inning.  Coffey doubled to drive home two runs and Krigbaum had a run scoring single.

          Frank Barnes was 3-5 with three runs scored for the Big Blue.  Krigbaum went 2-4 with two RBIs.  Coffey had three runs scored along with his two RBIs.  Brian Ekiss also collected two hits for the Big Blue.

          Millikin had five stolen bases in the game with Askins and Coffey each nabbing two and Barnes stealing one base.

          Senior Adam Carlisle earned the win on the mound for Millikin throwing five and two-thirds innings allowing only two runs (one earned) on four hits while striking out five.  Freshman Colten Watrous earned the save in his first Millikin appearance throwing three hitless innings.

          Anthony Bonilla led St. Joseph's going 3-5.

          Millikin will play Rockford College on Thursday at 6 p.m. ET.
