DEMOREST, Ga. - Casey Bell's grand slam home run helped propel No. 16 LaGrange to a 11-6 come-from-behind win at Piedmont on Sunday.
With the win, the Panthers improved to 15-2 overall, including 5-1 in conference play. They took two of three games in their weekend series with the Lions (10-6, 2-4 USA South)
LaGrange was down 5-1 after two innings and trailed 6-3 entering the sixth. Chad Pigg led off with a single and a base hit by Jackson Patrick put runners on the corners.
James Poropatic was hit by a pitch to load the bases with two outs and to bring up Bell. The senior put the Panthers up 7-6 with his second collegiate grand slam and team-tying third home run of the season.
The Panthers went up 8-6 in the seventh on Pigg's second home run of the season. They added three insurance runs in the eighth to make it 11-6. Bell had an RBI single in the inning to tie his career high for RBIs in a game.
Jonathan Fleckenstein (3-1) threw a career-high 4-2/3 innings of scoreless releif to get the win. He allowed just one hit and walked one with two strikeouts.
The Panthers host Huntingdon in a three-game USA South series beginning Friday.
