FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - No. 2/3 LaGrange pounded Methodist 11-1 at Armstrong-Shelley Field on Sunday. The Panthers (29-3, 14-1 USA South) completed a three-game sweep of the USA South series with the Monarchs (14-18, 6-9 USA South).

Senior Blane Swift had three hits, including his fifth home run of the season, and five RBIs in the game. Over the past nine games, he is batting .351 with the five home runs and 13 RBIs. Swift, who transferred to LaGrange last season, had not hit a home run in his first 66 games with the Panthers.

Freshman Richie Post upped his record to 3-0. He went six innings, scattered six hits and gave up a run. Post walked two and struck out seven in lowering his ERA to 1.42. Austin Perez threw a scoreless seventh inning, then Colin Barrett closed out the game with two shutout innings.

Methodist scored the game's first run in the third inning to go up 1-0. Swift put the Panthers ahead to stay in the fourth with a three-run blast. He capped a five-run seventh inning with a two-run double. Blake Butcher's solo home run in the ninth ended the scoring for the Panthers. It was Butcher's seventh home run of the season.

The Panthers host Oglethorpe on Tuesday in a non-conference game. LC has beaten the Stormy Petrels 9-4 and 8-4 earlier in the season.
