On the Mound

  • The afternoon started out strong for the pitching staff as Tyler Cooney, Mason Sawyers, Aaron Heller, Gavin Pollard and Colby Childs all threw an inning and allowed one hit combined with four strikeouts.

  • Mason Salisbury started the sixth and took the loss. Cole Whitton and Quade Gannon combined with Salisbury to pitch the sixth inning, allowing four runs on on six hits.

At the Plate

  • Jack Patterson led Hood at the plate going 2-for-3 with a triple.

  • Richard Kershow, Cristian Reyna and Sebastian Paz all recorded a hit. Is that how Paz spells his first name? Often there's an E in there.

How it Happened

  • Neither team scored in the first five innings, as the Blazers' first five pitchers combined to hold the Eagles to one hit. Hood's staff retired 12 straight Bridgewater batters at one point during the first five innings.

  • The Eagles broke open the game in the bottom of the sixth, scoring four runs. Bridgewater hit four straight singles to start the inning, with Jarret Biesecker's base hit starting the rally. Hits by Brett Tharp, Brandan Hartman and Collin Reid followed, resulting in a 2-0 lead. Hunter Clever doubled into the left field gap to bring home Hartman for the third run of the inning. Camden Herron singled later in the inning, knocking in Clever to make it 4-0.

  • Bridgewater added another run in the seventh inning, when Biesecker walked to start the inning. He scored on a Tharp single when Patterson made a throwing error for a 5-0 lead.

  • Issac Sumpter and Herron hit back-to-back singles to start the eighth. Both Eagles later scored on a TJ Johnson single up the middle. Johnson crossed home with two outs on a Biesecker groundout to shortstop as the Eagles added three more runs.
