October 1, 2024 Carthage's Schmidt to retire following 2025 season Augie Schmidt IV, a Carthage College legend and the driving force behind the Carthage baseball program for nearly four decades, announced he will retire after the 2025 season. Assistant coach John Lequia '09 will succeed Schmidt as head coach.
April 24, 2024 Carthage's Schmidt joins 1000 win club Carthage took on UW-Oshkosh at home on Wednesday afternoon. The Firebirds gained momentum throughout the middle innings, securing the win that gave Augie Schmidt IV his 1,000th victory in his 37th season as head coach at Carthage College.
May 8, 2022 Carthage Thumps Ripon, 19-1, in Firebirds' Season Finale on May 8 The Carthage College baseball team (15-25) closed out its 2022 season on Sunday, May 8 with a 19-1 win over non-conference opponent Ripon College (17-21) at Francis Field in Ripon, Wis.

May 7, 2022 Carthage Takes Two from No. 11 North Central on May 7 Playing its best baseball of the season, Carthage College (14-25, 7-11 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) swept a Saturday, May 7 doubleheader from No. 11 and CCIW-champion North Central College (29-10, 13-4), 9-1 and 6-4, at Zimmerman Stadium in Naperville, Ill.  The twinbill ended the Firebirds’ conference schedule, with Carthage not qualifying for the CCIW Baseball Tournament.

May 2, 2022 Carthage Splits with Millikin on May 2 The Carthage College baseball team (12-24, 5-10 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) split a Monday, May 2 doubleheader with conference-opponent Millikin University (23-13, 9-7) at Augie Schmidt Field in Kenosha, Wis.  The Firebirds won the opening game, 3-2, but the Big Blue took the nightcap by a 12-6 margin in 12 innings.
