D3baseball.com Team of the Week

The Team of the Week is D3baseball.com's weekly honor roll, in its tenth season of recognizing the top performers at each of nine positions from the previous week. Players are selected from nominations from their school's sports information directors. This is the sixth Team of the Week of the 2021 season.

Games of March 29-April 4, 2021

Daniel Spencer, Jr., Denison

In three games against Ohio Wesleyan, Spencer batted .556 (5-for-9) with three doubles, six runs scored and two RBIs. He also threw out two of three base runners in the series.

1B  Catcher Cumming, Sr., Penn St.-Altoona

Cumming had a big day in the Lions' sweep of AMCC opponent Medaille on Saturday, including setting the Penn State Altoona record for the most home runs hit in a single game. On the week, Catcher hit .571 (4-for-7) with nine RBIs, five runs scored, three home runs, and one double. He posted a .556 on-base percentage, a 2.000 slugging percentage, and was perfect in the field with 15 putouts on 15 total chances.

2B  Noah Campanelli, So., St. John Fisher

Campanelli batted .643 (9-for-14) last week as the Cardinals picked up three wins. He had four doubles, seven RBIs, 11 runs scored, three walks and a pair of stolen bases.

SS  J.J. Freeman, Sr., Franklin & Marshall

Freeman had a monster doubleheader for the Diplomats on Saturday as he batted .500 (4-for-8), slugged 1.375, and got on base at a .600 clip. Freeman had four extra-base hits over the doubleheader split against Muhlenberg. He had two doubles, a triple, and a home run while scoring six runs and driving in six more. Freeman was flawless in his nine defensive chances in the field, helping to turn a double play.

3B  Chris Liriano, Jr., William Paterson

Liriano was 5-for-6 on the weekend (.833) as four of the hits went for extra-bases, two doubles and two triples (1.833 slugging %). With three walks, he posted a .889 on-base percentage. He scored once, driving in seven.

OF  William Bellamy, Sr., Union

Bellamy started the 2021 season by hitting .600 (3-for-5) with a homer and a 2.114 OPS in Union's two victories over Vassar. The senior went 2-for-3 with a homer, double, walk and two RBIs in game one's 8-1 win, then added a hit and a walk before coming out early in a lopsided game-two victory.

OF  Jaylon Lee, Sr., Eastern Mennonite

Lee had one the of best games in EMU history last week. Lee finished the week with a slash line of .538/.571/1.385, batting 7-for-13 with five extra base hits. He had 11 RBIs, 7 runs, 4 stolen bases and 1 walk. He was also perfect in 8 chances in center field.

OF  Justin Meekins, Sr., Salisbury

Meekins found his stroke in a big way during the third-ranked Sea Gulls' doubleheader sweep against Southern Virginia on Saturday. The three-time all-conference selection either scored or drove in 12 of Salisbury's 37 runs in the two games against SVU. He slashed .600/.667/1.300.

OF  Erik Mini, Sr., Williams

Mini hit .583 (7-for-12) to help the Ephs kick off the 2021 season with a sweep of NESCAC West opponent Hamilton. Mini posted a .615 on-base percentage and slugged 1.333 while fielding four chances flawlessly in left field. His signature game came Sunday, when he became the first Eph since 2008 to hit for the cycle. In an 11-10 win over the Continentals, Mini went 5-for-5 with two home runs and seven RBIs while scoring three runs. He drove in eight runs and scored five times over the three games.

DH  Tyler Burton, Jr., Anderson (Ind.)

In three games, Burton went 7-for-10 (.700) with three walks, three doubles, three RBIs, five runs and three stolen bases. He posted a .769 on-base percentage and a 1.000 slugging percentage for the week.

SP  Drew Harshbarger, Jr., Penn State Harrisburg

Harshbarger turned in an unforgettable performance on Saturday afternoon when he became just the second pitcher in Penn State Harrisburg history to throw a no-hitter. The right hander allowed just three baserunners and struck out 11 batters during a victory over Wells in the opening game of a conference doubleheader. The McVeytown, Pa. native twice struck out the side during the win, including striking out the final three batters he faced in the top of the seventh to secure the program's first no-no since 2013.

SP  Mike Hennessy, So., Cortland

Hennessy pitched four hitless and scoreless innings in a 10-0 win over Cazenovia last Tuesday. The only baserunner he allowed was on a hit batsman. Hennessy was pulled after four innings due to a predetermined pitch count and was awarded the victory.

SP  Matt Mulhearn, Sr., Webster

In his only start of the week, Mulhearn continued his domination on the mound as he tossed just the third no-hitter in school history as he pitched a seven inning no-hitter in the Gorloks 11-0 win in its series opener at Eureka. Along with allowing no hits, Mulhearn faced three hitters of the minimum as he walked one and struck out a career and single game school record 17.In the game, Mulhearn struck out every single Eureka hitter at least once

RP  Huntley Hacker, Sr., Brevard

Earned a win and a save in 3.1 innings of work as the Tornados won a conference series over Maryville. Hacker struck out two batters and didn't allow a run in two Brevard wins.
