D3baseball.com Team of the Week

The Team of the Week is D3baseball.com's weekly honor roll, in its tenth season of recognizing the top performers at each of nine positions from the previous week. Players are selected from nominations from their school's sports information directors. This is the seventh Team of the Week of the 2021 season.

Games of April 5-11, 2021

Adam Zebrowski, Jr., St. John Fisher

Zebrowski was a hitting machine for the Cardinals last week as the Albany native batted .667 over five games. Zebrowski finished the week with 12 hits in 18 at-bats and slugged 1.556 overall. The catcher had four doubles and four home runs to go along with 11 RBIs and 12 runs scored. He also drew five walks and had an on-base percentage of .750. He threw out both runners that tried to steal an extra base.

1B  Jakob Cohn, So., Williams

Cohn went 6-for-8 (.750) and posted an on-base percentage of .800 with two walks in a doubleheader sweep of Middlebury. He finished the doubleheader with four RBI, seven runs scored, a double, a home run, and a stolen base to go with two walks.

2B  Amani Jones, Fr., Stevenson

Jones batted .600 (6-for-10) and slugged 1.600 with three home runs, a double, nine RBIs and five runs scored in a doubleheader sweep of Eastern. The first-year infielder went 3-for-5 in both contests, hitting two home runs, including a grand slam, with six RBIs and three runs scored in game one and then one home run and a double with three RBIs and two runs scored in game two.

SS  Stephen Bryant, Sr., Plattsburgh

Bryant proved difficult to keep off the bases as he reached base 15 times in 18 plate appearances for an .833 on-base percentage on the week. Bryant tallied seven hits, including one double, eight walks, four RBI, three runs scored and two stolen bases. He recorded a .700 batting average and an .800 slugging percentage.

3B  Brennan Schmitt, Sr., Wis.-La Crosse

Schmitt hit .571 (8-for-14) in four starts last week, recording 12 RBI, 10 runs, three doubles, two home runs and one triple. He also drew four walks while adding two stolen bases and two hit-by-pitch. Schmitt recorded a 1.357 slugging and .700 on-base percentage.

OF  Garrett Frazier, So., Hardin-Simmons

Frazier had another huge week for the Cowboys, going 11-for-19 with four doubles and three home runs with 14 RBIs. He tied the HSU and ASC record with three home runs in a 13-11 win over Sul Ross State. He slashed .579/.571/1.263.

OF  Brian Hadden, Sr., Dean

Hadden led the Dean offense in a 3-1 weekend, which was the first action for the Bulldogs this season and as a member of the GNAC. He hit .692 with nine hits in 13 at-bats, slugged 1.308 and posted an on base percentage of .750. Hadden recorded five doubles and a home run. Hadden posted four RBIs and five runs scored for the week. He also tossed two scoreless innings of relief to earn a save in that game.

OF  Kyle Schroedle, Jr., Crown (Minn.)

Schroedle batted .500 (three-for-six) with four RBIs and four runs scored. Along with a triple, Schroedle blasted his seventh home run of the season, setting the Crown season record. His three-run shot helped the Storm defeat conference rival St. Scholastica for the first time in school history 5-4 in extra innings. He walked an eight times throughout the week as he reached base at a .786 clip.

OF  Bret Williams, Sr., Penn State Harrisburg

Williams had a big week at the plate in leading Penn State Harrisburg to three victories, including one over a Keystone squad receiving votes in the national rankings and a pair against conference foe Lancaster Bible. For the week, Williams slashed .467/.619/1.333 with a 1.952 OPS. He hit 4 home runs, scored 12 runs, and drove in 11 more to go along with 6 walks, a stolen base, and 20 total bases. 

DH  Branton Sanders, Gr., Anderson

Sanders went 7-for-11 with two doubles, three homers, eight RBIs and eight runs. He also drew four walks (two intentional) and a hit by pitch. On the week, Sanders racked up a 1.636 slugging percentage, a .750 on-base percentage and a .636 batting average.

SP  Jared Herzog, Fr., Rockford

Herzog was brilliant in his first start of the season this past week. Herzog went six innings and struck out a career-high 15 batters, including the final seven hitters he faced. He allowed no runs, one hit and walked none to earn his first collegiate win.

SP Nolan Rowan, Fr., Kean

Rowan became the third player in Kean history to toss a nine-inning no-hitter as the Kean blanked Stockton University, 4-0 on Thursday afternoon. Rowan earned his first collegiate win in the process as he allowed five walks and one hit-batsmen in the two hour affair.  He fanned five.

SP  Aaron Saenz, Sr., Alma

Saenz threw a complete game shutout in the Scots' 7-0 win in game two of a doubleheader Saturday against Albion College. The senior allowed only one runner on base all game with a bloop single to right field to start off the fifth inning. The lefty finished strong by retiring the final nine batters and getting the final out on a strikeout. Saenz was extremely effective on the mound, throwing only 70 pitches for the entire game.

SP  Ryan Wolfe, Sr., Saint Mary's (Minn.)

Wolfe tossed a complete-game, one-hit shutout in Saint Mary's 3-0 victory at Augsburg on Saturday. The senior right-hander faced just 22 batters in the game, striking out nine and limiting the Auggies to only a third-inning single in the opening contest of last Saturday's doubleheader. Wolfe locked up his third career shutout and fifth career complete game.

RP  Sayer Collins, Jr., East Texas Baptist

Collins had a three flawless, perfect outings in all three appearances vs. top notch teams. Started the week with a two inning relief performance vs. #14 Centenary going two innings and striking out three batters allowing no hits to one of top offenses in the nation. In two outings vs. LC in a key ASC Series when the Wildcats had not lost an ASC game, he went 1-0 and a save in games two and three. In game two of the DH, he came in the fifth inning with the game tied 3-3 and went the final five innings striking out 11 batters. In game three, he came in with two runners on and one out. He struck out three in earning the save.
