Wednesday recap

Buena Vista bounced back nicely on Wednesday afternoon, sweeping a pair of non-conference games from Gustavus Adolphus by scores of 6-2 and 10-1.  The Gusties did out-hit the Beavers, 7-4, in the opening contest, but left 10 runners on base.  The Beavers pounded out 16 hits in the contest, compared to only six for the Gusties.

Mary Washington scored four runs in the ninth inning en route to an 8-7 victory at Bridgewater (Va.). The Eagles cause in the final inning uprising was assisted by two Bridgewater errors. pinch hitter Connor Finnerty provided a two-run triple to tie the score in the ninth, later scored on a two-out single from Kevin Stein.

UW-Whitewater had to come from behind to win in both games of a doubleheader against UW-Platteville at James B. Miller Stadium in Whitewater.  The Warhawks won game one 8-5, and game two 4-3.

Piedmont picked up a 9-3 non-conference victory at Loudermilk Field over Oglethorpe. The Lions pounded out 11 hits while the pitching staff struck out a season-best 14 hitters en route to the win.

Casey Fox hand a hand in most of the goings on at Kannerstein Field as he started and earned the win on the mound while nearly hitting for the cycle in No. 25th Haverford's, 6-4, non-conference baseball win over visiting Moravian.

Travis Johnson hit a first-inning grand slam and Methodist posted a 10-6 win at Lynchburg. Johnson finished 2-for-5 with four RBIs and a run scored for the Monarchs. Chris Power was 2-for-5 and scored twice, while Cody Molsoky was a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs scored.

Fourth-ranked Salisbury used a four-run seventh inning to pull away from Catholic for an 8-2 win at Talbot Field. Sophomore Austin Barefoot recorded a career-high three hits, while classmate Danny Breen knocked in a career-best two runs in the victory. Freshman right-hander Jeff Oster worked 4.1 innings of scoreless relief. He allowed just one hit and struck out three for Salisbury, which collected 14 hits on the day.

Alvernia answered in every inning that Gwynedd-Mercy scored and finished up a 6-3 win over the Griffins in non-conference action at Angelica Park. Freshman starter Matt Osgoodby threw a solid five innings and go a no-decision.  Senior Leon Stimpson led the offensive attack going 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI.

The visiting Vikings of Salem State proved too much for the host Fighting Scots at Gordon's J. Tec White Field, cruising to a 13-4 win. Salem got the bats going early and often giving Sean Buckland plenty of run support. Buckland earned the win on the mound for Salem giving up five hits and no runs in five full innings, while Eric Proulx absorbed the loss for Gordon.

Eureka catcher Brian Munson shared game-high honors with two hits and two RBI, while junior left-hander Bryan Meyer pitched into the ninth inning to earn his second victory in the last seven days, as the Red Devils came from behind for a 7-5 SLIAC victory over MacMurray at Henry Sand Field.  The victory completed Eureka's season series sweep of the Highlanders.

Brandeis scored 11 runs, their highest total since the season opener, on 13 hits, while taking advantage of five errors to defeat visiting Endicott , 11-4, on Stein Diamond.

Senior Nick Grady went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI to lead Southern Maine past the Bowdoin Polar Bears, 7-2, in a non-conference game at Pickard Field. The win was the sixth straight for the Huskies.

Wilkes used four pitchers and pounded out 11 hits and took advantage of four Royal errors to win 5-2 in non-conference action at Artillery Park. Adam Misiura collected the win on the mound, working 1.1 innings and allowing one run. Patrick Condo collected his first save of the season, allowing three hits and one run over four innings of work.

Wabash picked up a pair of runs in the third and two more in the fifth to earn a 4-1 victory over Rose-Hulman. The victory snapped a five-game winning streak versus the Little Giants by Rose. Lucas Stippler finished with three of the Little Giants' 11 hits. Andrew Rodgers added two hits for Wabash.
