Saturday sees Keystone break streak

Junior designated hitter Ryan Levine hit a one out walk off RBI sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth to lead Farmingdale State to a 9-8 victory over Brockport State on Saturday afternoon. The Rams improve to 2-0 on the season, while the Golden Eagles fall to 1-1.

Junior outfielder Chris Siravo scored the game-winning run on a wild pitch in the bottom of the ninth to send Rhode Island to a 6-5 victory over Gordon at the 2014 RussMatt Invitational.

Concordia (Texas) scored seven runs in the opening frame and rolled to a 12-2 victory over Texas-Dallas at Tornado Field. The Tornados fell behind early after the Comets plated two runs in their first at-bat. However, CTX sent 12 hitters to the plate in the bottom of the frame and tallied four hits while taking advantage of three Texas-Dallas errors to score seven times and put the game out of reach for the Comets.

After coming up just short in a comeback attempt on Friday night, Covenant could not bounce back as they dropped both games of a doubleheader to USA South foe Huntingdon. The Hawks won a pitcher's duel 1-0 in game one followed by an 11-1 victory in the second game.

Albion finished its doubleheader with just two fewer hits than Franklin, but it's the number of runs that cross the plate that count in baseball. The host Grizzlies took advantage of 14 walks issued by five pitchers to sweep the doubleheader from the Britons by scores of 6-0 and 8-1.

Mississippi College earned their first ASC series win of the season with a doubleheader split against East Texas Baptist at Frierson Field. After dropping the first game, 4-1, the Choctaws bounced back for a 7-2 win in the second game.

Keystone broke into the win column on by sweeping Arcadia in a doubleheader during the Giants’ annual spring break trip to Florida. The Giants won Saturday’s opening game 8-5 before claiming a 4-0 shutout in the nightcap to improve to 2-4 on the young season.

Saint Lawrence shutout Thiel for an 8-0 win in their season opener at the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic. St. Lawrence out-hit the Tomcats to the tune of an 11-to-four advantage.

North Park scored an uneraned run in the ninth to send their game with Northern Ohio into extra innings but a Dan Belliveau home run to lead off the tenth and two insurance runs gave the Polar Bears a 8-5 win at the Gene Cusic Classic in Fort Myers, Florida.

Mary Hardin-Baylor baseball team scored early and often in both games in a pair of slugfest wins as the Cru swept a doubleheader from Sul Ross State. UMHB won game one 14-10 and took a 12-1, run-rule victory in game two.

Junior right-hander Kevin DeMauro needed five pitches to record four outs with a little help from his defense in the final 1.1 innings of relief as New Jersey City opened its 2014 spring baseball trip with a 6-5 decision over Juniata. DeMauro earned his first save of the season and third of his career to preserve the first career victory for junior left-hander Delio Coutinho, who struck out eight batters in 5.2 innings in his second start of the season.

Whittier completed a series sweep of Pomona-Pitzer, 15-9 and 9-0, en route to winning their ninth straight game the longest winning streak in Head Coach Mike Rizzo's tenure. The Poets remain in first place in the SCIAC standings as they improve to 9-0 in the SCIAC.
