Edgewood gets pitching, Dominican walkoff

Edgewood received an outstanding pitching performance to take the first game of their doubleheader over Rockford, but the Regents responded in game two for the split. Trevor Koehn and Abdrew Lauritzen combined on a two-hit shutout in a 6-0 win, before the Eagles fell 5-2 in the nightcap.

Dominican picked up their third walk-off victory in the last five games, topping the Chicago Maroons 4-3 in 14 innings. Tim Varallo sent the Stars' fans home happy, lifting a sacrifice fly to right to score Ryan DiCristofano. It was Varallo's second RBI of the game and the junior left fielder also had an outfield assist, throwing out a runner at the plate in the top of the sixth.

Randolph-Macon advanced to 16-11 overall following their 5-3 victory over Mary Washington in South Region action. Seven of the nine starters got a hit in a balanced offense for the Yellow Jackets. This was head coach Ray Herick's 200th win of his tenure with the Yellow Jackets.

Buena Vista got some timely hitting in both games against Central, including a two-run single in the nightcap to finish the comeback, as the Beavers completed the series sweep against the Dutch by scores of 7-6 and 6-5.

Freshman Adam Barry collected a pair of hits including a his first collegiate home run to go with three RBI's to help lead Worcester State past Brandeis, 9-4, in non-conference action at the Lyons Baseball Diamond. Juniors David Ruggiero and Nick Gikas joined Barry with multiple hits as they each went 2-for-4 on the day.

Bethel (Minn.) settled for a split against Saint John's (Minn.) after returning to the diamond for the first time in over a week. The Royals upended the Johnnies in game one 7-1 and had the go-ahead run at the plate in the final inning of game two, but fell in the nine-inning contest 6-3. The loss in game two was Bethel's first setback in conference play.

Sophomore Nick Annunziata drove in five runs and senior Tim Gallagher threw a complete game to lead RPI to a doubleheader sweep of Skidmore at Robison Field. With wins of 6-3 and 4-1, the Engineers improve to 14-6 overall, while the Thoroughbreds drop to 5-11.

On March 25, Springfield and MIT battled through 14 innings, until darkness forced the game to be suspended with a 1-1 tie. The Springfield College baseball team picked up two big conference wins over MIT on Thursday. Senior pitcher Thomas Mariano recorded his 100th career strikeout and senior outfielder Joseph Connell hit his 30th career double as Moravian finally finished a three-game Landmark Conference series with visiting Drew as the Greyhounds posted a 5-2 win at Gillespie Field.

The Berry Vikings won its second game of the year against Covenant by a final score of 12-8. A strong hitting game swayed in Berry's favor with a total of 33 hits between the two clubs.

Salem State won for the eighth consecutive time, as they defeated the UMass-Boston Beacons for the second time, in a week, 13-3 at the Central Campus Baseball Field. Salem State's Richard Fecteau went 4-for-5 with four RBI and three runs scored, and Brett Cahill also went 4-for-5 with two RBI.

Ragan Pope hurled five scoreless innings and Conner Bertsch hit a two-run homer to lead  16th-ranked Concordia (Texas) to a 6-1 non-conference victory over Schreiner on Tuesday night at Tornado Field. Pope fanned four and allowed only two hits in his third consecutive mid-week start. Four relievers pitched an inning apiece and combined to hold the Mountaineers to three hits and one run to clinch the win.

Anthony Hinkson bases clearing triple in the eighth inning broke a 2-2 tie and led Pacific to a 6-2 victory over Willamette at Chuck Bafaro Stadium. Pacific made the most of their bench as five of Pacific's eleven hits came from non-starters.

Eureka scored three times in the first inning of a non-conference matchup with Elmhurst, but the visiting Bluejays scored four runs in the third inning to take the lead before running away with a 12-7 victory over the Red Devils at Henry Sand Field. 

Lynchburg scored four runs in the ninth and threw six hitless innings of relief to win a non-conference game, 6-5, at Ferrum. The Lynchburg bullpen took over with the Hornets down three runs in the fourth and kept the Ferrum at bay allowing the offense to catch and pass the Panthers.
