Gem gets Lynchburg first win

Junior Trevor Martin got Lynchburg into the win column Sunday, throwing six innings of one-hit baseball to down St. Joseph's (Me.) 11-0 in eight innings to conclude play in the Emory Tournament. David Goulding gave up one hit in the seventh inning and Colton Steber walked two Monks in the eighth, but the duo out of the bullpen were able to preserve the shutout and first win of the season for Lynchburg.

Hendrix earned their third win of the season, downing Texas-Dallas 9-2 at Dr. Pepper Ballpark in Frisco in the final game of their weekend series. Wyatt Hogan went 2-for-3 with three RBI to lead the Warrior offense.

Eric Lawson launched his first career home run, Jo Carroll hit a ball over the right-field fence for the second straight day and Riley Newman spun seven scoreless innings in game two as fourth-ranked Linfield rolled to 10-3 and 10-1 victories against Oregon Tech at Roy Helser Field.  The doubleheader capped off the Northwest Conference/Cascade Conference Crossover, featuring multiple teams from both leagues at multiple sites.

Behind a solid starting effort from sophomore Hans Hansen, Emory moved to 2-0 with a key early-season regional win over Rhodes at the Emory University Tournament at Chappell Park in Atlanta, Georgia. The Eagles won 5-2 in a rematch of a pair of games from last year's NCAA South Regional.

Texas-Tyler starter Carson Adams earned the win in a wild 4-2 win over No. 16 Trinity (Texas).

Texas-Tyler closed out the 2015 Clements Fluids Classic with a thrilling, 4-2 win over No. 16 ranked Trinity (Texas). The win is the third-straight for the Patriots. Texas-Tyler had been using offensive-force to win its last two games, averaging 8.5 runs per contest to go with five homeruns, but today's matchup with Trinity featured great pitching and timely defense.

The Maryville diamondmen claimed the series at Huntingdon with a 7-3 victory over the Hawks in a three-game USA South series in Montgomery, Alabama. Maryville starting pitcher Lawson Wishard tossed 6.1 inning allowing only a pair of hits and not allowing an earned run to earn the mound victory.

Willamette freshman Cameron Igarashi hit a walk-off single to drive in Tiras Koon with the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning, as the Bearcats defeated Lewis & Clark, 7-6, at Wilsonville High School. The Bearcats remained undefeated at 7-0 on the season, while L&C dropped to 0-5.

Beneath gray, rainy skies the No. 8 Cal Lutheran baseball team returned to action against Puget Sound of the Northwest Conference. The home team took the only game of a scheduled doubleheader by a score of 7-3 despite heavy rains falling over the last three innings.
